F.A.R.T. The Movie (1991 Video)
Has Its Moments
30 August 2003
Warning: Spoilers
Obviously, making a movie about flatulence is going to be a one joke proposition by its very nature, but this film does indeed have its fair share of laughs, especially the scene with the minister ("Oh sure wash it down with some beer, you think the bubbles are going to help?"). The only part I didn't like was the absolute end when it turned into some sort of commercial for the Medicine Wheel Band, a Southern California rock group, sounding quite a bit like Molly Hatchet.

Disappointing Adaptation of Ellis Novel
13 July 2003
Frankly, I am quite surprised that as many people liked this film on here as they did. I had read the Ellis novel about 6 years before the movie came out and frankly, I was greatly disappointed by this portrayal. Could somebody please tell me why certain character's names were changed. For example it is PAUL OWEN in the book, not PAUL ALLEN as it is here. Is this some sort of subconscious dig at Microsoft? Also, some of the violent scenes in the book that were the most powerful, such as when Bateman attacks the guy delivering Chinese Food are completely left out of the film altogether. Please do yourself a favor and read the book instead.

Very Underrated Gem
13 July 2003
This is one of those movies that I fervently hope gets rediscovered one day. The performances are top notch, especially Landau as the extremely obseqious producer and Ralph as DeNiro's actress girlfriend. What makes this movie so great is that it understands the need of subtlety in satire, something that is often lacking. This film also says a lot about Hollywood and financing that REALLY hits the mark, maybe a little to close to home for some in the industry.

Spinal Tap For Folk Music
19 April 2003
I just saw this in the theaters and man, these guys hit a home run again. Certainly this is way funnier than the disappointing Waiting For Guffman, and it rivals some of the great gags in Spinal Tap. Who know that folk music could be as a rich a target for satire as heavy metal. And any movie featuring Ed Begley, Jr spouting off the cuff Yiddish words and expressions would be a classic for that reason alone!

Very Underrated Little Flick
9 April 2003
Marx plays a teenage Dutch Jew at the time of the holocaust, with an obsession with American style cowboy films. This alone would make for a wonderfully eccentric storyline, but couple that with Lou Jacobi singing bawdy songs (wish he could have been this funny in Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex) and a wonderful ending (no spoilers here) and you have the makings of a nice under the radar gem, which is certainly worth seeking out.
