Survivor: We Can Do Hard Things (2023)
Pathetic
It is only the first episode, but with a few notable exceptions, it is a pathetic group of self absorbed, whiney, contestants who believe in conspiracies and astrology. And if I hear one more, "I love you", between people who have known each other for 2 days, I am gonna vomit. And why in the first episode do the people have to gush like they are contestants on The Price is Right?
In addition, can we please get some of the old challenges back. How many puzzles do we need to see. Bring back the eating challenges. If you are really going to survive on an island, you may actually have to eat something a little gross.
9-1-1: Eddie Begins (2020)
The lightening
Good episode, but the major problem is they don't follow their own advice. They stop drilling because the lightening might hit the giant lightening rod they erected. And then they leave the giant lightening rod right next to the hole and all the responders. Makes no sense at all.
Also, the Afghanistan flashbacks were to long and dark. They should have made the heroism a bit simpler, but I guess they needed to kill some time.
Finally, Eddie's parents were simply horrible. As a matter of fact, all of poor Christopher's family is pretty awful, including Eddie until the very end.
It may not sound like it, but the episode was still entertaining.
Star Trek: Discovery: All Is Possible (2021)
That was such a bad episode, and I loved season 3
It seems as if they are actually trying to purge fans who enjoy fun and adventure. I can not, for the life of me, see who could have enjoyed that episode. It is woke, and yet, the dark skinned, pig nosed, short tempered cadet was in there. Woke, but insensitive.
The first season was not good, but they righted the ship. Can they do it again?
We'll see.
40 Years a Prisoner (2020)
Kinda fair, but
Having grown up in the Philly area in the 70s and 80s, I was curious about this film. I thought it was fairly balanced by showing how crazy MOVE was, but, in the end, showing the police brutality and blatant lying. Oh, and Ed Rendell, good save. I don't know whose bullet killed Officer Ramp, but I generally blame MOVE even more than the belligerent Frank Rizzo. After 40 years, I am good with the parole of Mike Africa Sr. and Ms. Sims (her name escapes me as I write, sorry) Mike Africa Jr. comes off really well. After his parents rightfully went to prison, somebody raised him well. Good for him and great that he and his parents, who now seem very different from the Move members of the 70s, have time together. The "but" in my title is the lack of follow-up in the documentary. And the balls to have Wilson Goode talking about police mistakes when HE was the one who authorized dropping the concusion bomb on Osage Ave. in the 80s. No mention of how MOVE again terrorized a community. LNo mention of how they forced the children to live in squaler. No mention of storing gasoline on the roof of Osage Ave.. More Death followed.
Young Wallander: Episode 1 (2020)
So Wallander was an idiot?
I thought I'd watch this before I watch the Branaugh Wallander. What I got from the first episode is that Wallander is just a idiot and a bad cop. Does it get any better?
Land of Smiles (2016)
Thailand is Beautiful but this movie STINKS
I am an American watching this movie in South Korea with my Thai wife. We wanted to like the movie as we live part time in Thailand. Unfortunately, this movie was awful.
The acting was atrocious and the story was ridiculous. No explication of the killers' motivation at all. It is one of those movies where the characters are inexplicably stupid and make decisions that nobody in real life would ever make.
90 minutes of my life shot to hell.
