House of Cards (2013)
How to destroy a masterpiece.
If you were lucky enough to have seen BBC masterpiece trilogy "House of Cards",
"To Play The King" an "Final Cut" you shouldn't bother comparing it with this "remake". To even minimally enjoy the Netflix version you'd have to forget a masterful performance of immortal Ian Richardson and the rest of a great BBC cast and try to get into American version as if it were a different show altogether. And this is what tried to do. However, when this show wasn't full of chip sex scenes, foul language and unimportant plots it was deadly boring. Kevin Spacey was the only one who kept one's interest but leading female actress was so fake and he role was so poor it was impossible to watch after awhile. I gave it 9 episodes and had to quit. One star for Kevin Spacey, who is a good actor.
Manhunt (2019)
Fair police drama with obligatory family cliches and unnecessary profanity
Frankly, I am tired of the old cliche that must appear in every crime/police story where dedicated investigator have to suffer the wife/family/girl friend's resentment of his dedication/ obsession of finding the killer. this show is no exception - while the hero is doing his job trying to catch the killer the wife is trying to tear their family life apart, daughter is upset because he didn't turn up for the birthday celebration and so forth. This boring scenes could have been cut off and two parts would be enough for this mini series.
Another unfortunate point is use gratuitous use of profanity that begins as a side comment of one of the detectives in part two and becomes more and more prominent in part three used by main characters. It's really strange coming out of mouths of these detectives hitherto speaking in perfectly civilised language. it's not like some American crime stories where they let you know from the start that this is how the cops speak and you accept it or not. Other than that is a fairly interesting drama based on real case.
Sé quién eres (2017)
Excellent thriller on the level of Breaking Bad. Don't miss it!
If Spanish TV continues to make excellent series like La Casa de Papel and this one they will take over the leadership from famed British TV series and that haven't been so productive of late. Where are new Morse, Prime Suspect, House of Cards and the like?
This show has great story, not a wasted episode and great acting lead and supporting.
There's something brewing in Spain and it may be new revolution in TV. entertainment
Columbo: Sex and the Married Detective (1989)
Cashing in on great "House of Games". Worth a look.
I am very surprised that none of the reviewers have mentioned that Lindsay Crouse here is reprising a very similar (maybe too similar) role of a betrayed therapist who exacts her revenge on cheating lover in David Mamet's (her husband at the time)superb noir "House of Games". Of course, this episode was not created by David Mamet so it bears no comparison in quality with the original but it's entertaining enough to deserve a viewing. Peter Falk is great as always and there are touches of comedy that helps the viewing. If you are reading this and have not seen "House of Games" you owe it to yourself to look it up. You'll thank me later!
Escape at Dannemora (2018)
Total waist of time. Skip it!
I couldn't make it even through the first episode. Horrid, drab and ugly prison "drama". Boring and pretentious.
I hope Ben Stiller (who used to be a comedian), Arquette are enjoying their extended stay in prison. At least they are getting paid for it but why should we suffer?...
Give it a miss.
Killing Eve: I'll Deal with Him Later (2018)
Phony Russians
I'm so tired of shows supposedly portraying various nationalities and not bothering to hire actors of that nationality or at least the ones who can believably learn their lines in the language they suppose to speak. This episode is the case in point. You have three actors who are supposed to be Russians and they can not manage a single coherent phrase between them in that language. How are we suppose to believe in ANYTHING that's going on in this show after that? It just shows lack of care and respect for international viewers.
