Interesting. Best Cameron Diaz I have seen
5 May 2010
Warning: Spoilers
If you are looking for an interesting, but depressing movie, this is a good one to see. Starts slow and sometimes seems scattered and confusing and hard to follow. At times the music or other sounds required lowering the volume and then it was difficult to understand the conversations, needing the volume to be turned up. I won't recommend this as a no-brainer chill-out type of movie, because this left me feeling troubled yet understanding that the end had to be the way it ended.

I think the acting was good and the acting made the movie interesting enough to watch it all the way through to the end. Had I read some of the reviews prior to seeing the movie, I would not have rented it.

Like I said, interesting but depressing.

Could have been better
4 March 2005
I was very disappointed with the movie for the simple fact that the director or writer or whoever had a political agenda.

Basically, a politician is running for office and a problem surfaces that could totally destroy him. The politics comes in when the political party's bosses refer to the Democrats as getting them. The reference as I see it is that big business is trying to win an election by nefarious means (aren't all political parties nefarious?) and the Dems are trying to ruin it for them. Though their party is never referred to as Republicans, they do refer to Dems as getting them, hence being the 'good guys' looking out for the average person, and the other party has money, big business, etc, all things associated with Republicans, caring less about the average person..

Had it not been for the Democrat reference, I might have rated it higher. This seemed to me as a political movie, since the VERY FIRST preview of other movies is about "Farenheit 9-11", and the other previews were also left leaning or liberal. If it is a political movie, it should be noted as such.

Bad bad bad
31 December 2004
To start with, Blockbuster had this as a comedy. Wrong! The premise of the film, in my opinion, was about a 30-some single man who has no real idea of where he is going with his life, but his girlfriend knows what she wants and wants somebody with the same desire. A burglar is captured by crazy Zoolie, who just happens to still be mourning for his best friend that died several months ago and can't get on with his life. The burglar is captured and tied down, and in the conversation between Zoolie and the burglar, Zoolie discovers the burglar is gay, etc. Nothing sexually gay happens, but the implication is there and at the end, Zoolie frees the burglar and the next day the gay burglar returns. The intimation I saw is that Zoolie really was gay. I don't rent movies about gays as I do not approve of nor like their lifestyle. I dislike the lack of warning on the disc cover warning potential viewers of homosexual implications.

I will be getting a free movie from Blockbuster under their happy customer policy since I am unhappy about the movie.

Pendulum (2001)
The pendulum swung
29 November 2004
The pendulum swung right off the watchable chart. It is not that it was that awful but there was more nudity than necessary, and it finished with a questionable ending showing once again that Hollywood has forgotten what makes a good movie.

Also, once again, the Christian faith has been assaulted by the leftists in Hollywood. A woman, wearing a cross very visibly around her neck, is requested to do unsavory acts on a man. Why have a cross if not to insult the Christians that Hollywood seems to hate? Why not the Star of David? Why not a Muslim crescent symbol? Because Hollywood is anti-Christian, and every chance the leftists have a chance, they will denigrate Christians.
