Willow (2022)
A swing and a miss
Definitely not the worst series I've ever seen but that would only matter if it was a standalone series. But trying to pass this off as a continuation of the beloved, albeit silly, original source material it's a huge letdown.
There doesn't seem to be any chemistry in the cast and the story is sooooooo boring and confused. I made it through 3 episodes and I have such a vague idea of what's going on. There's so much "hurry up and wait" going on - they're both rushing through the plot but also not taking the time to let me want to care about anything happening.
This show needed another 2-3 years in development. I feel like much of what's going on just kind of got thrown together.
Uncoupled: Chapter 7 (2022)
I wanted to care so badly
I don't know if it's the pacing or the writing but I found myself just not caring about any of the characters. A lot of the "drama" was interesting or just weird (see spoiler). It seems they tried to cram in some social issues but they blew past them so quickly it didn't seem worth even mentioning. If it wasn't an attempt at social issues, the only other plausible explanation I had was they were trying to teach the older gays about current gay culture? It was just kind of lacking in presentation.
I watched the whole series in succession without distraction and I genuinely couldn't find myself caring about any of the characters. Maybe it was their attempt at making each character seem "real" and it missed the mark.
Overall it was mildly entertaining but I wouldn't personally recommend it to any of my friends.
SPOILER:
There's a scene with the main female friend in bed with her son while a rom com is playing (that was so poorly edited in it made it "look" like a porno). And then later on she ends up flirting with her son's best friend. It was uncomfortable.
Thunder Force (2021)
Absolutely garbage script
I've never seen such obvious exposition writing before in my life. The first (and only) 20 minutes I watched just slowly out loud explain such obvious things that I felt like either the writer is dumb or thought their audience was. "I haven't talked to her in 20 years" there was absolutely no reason to state this out loud to the diner owner nor the audience. We got that. I couldn't even make it to the part where their superheroes.
You can really tell poor Octavia Spencer knows how bad the script is and is trying her best but obviously doesn't care.
The Good Fight: The Gang Discovers Who Killed Jeffrey Epstein (2020)
I genuinely laughed
My heart was in my throat when they turned the key and then I got a good chuckle at the end.
Love the Citizen Cane Easter egg (the sled; bud-rosebud) even though it was unrelated.
Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken (2018)
Lighthearted yet exhilarating
What a fun show! I was a little skeptical at first, because of convenience of Rimaru's creation, but once you get past that it's just fun. It's like a cross between a video game, dungeons and dragons, and a peppy fun animated series. Combines a lot of my favorite things from anime type shows.
The Client List (2011)
What could you possibly expect?
We're only two episodes in, and I personally, love it. People, what do you expect? It's LIFETIME (TELEVISION FOR WOMEN) What do women want, honestly? Half naked me with glistening, beautiful chests and arms. Win.
The subject matter is a little shallow, SO FAR... but again... so far is TWO episodes. Give it a chance.
The Texan characters are believable and charming (trust me, after living years in Texas). And I really care about Jennifer Love Hewitt's character, and am rooting for her.
Go Client List!
