The Bridge: Eidolon (2014)
Two blood baths at housing project
This seems unlikely, but I got it in my head that there might have been 2 blood baths. The first one occurred when the then caretakers of the property were killed....and that created the need for Charlotte and Ray Ray to take over the care of the property. The blood bath in this latest episode was new. I know that seems unlikely, but if the E1 blood bath was foreshadowing, then why? I don't recall that kind of foreshadowing before. And others have pointed out the differences in the scenes.
Some speculate that Eleanor killed Faustus, but that seems highly unlikely. It appeared to me that after the failed effort by Faustus's gunmen, he got the report and upped the stakes by taking Sebastian's daughter. He didn't run to the housing project in some rage.
And Ray Ray. I lost track of him. He was not at the E09 blood bath was he? I just don't recall seeing him.
All in all, bad editing....or a bad concept...I'm reasonably smart and watching pretty carefully, but when you say, "what the *f happened here," I think that's the show and not the audience.
Ørnen: En krimi-odyssé (2004)
A very good show (small spoiler)
I really enjoyed this show when it was available on Netflix. I bought the DVD's from Amazon but the region free player I bought to play the discs was crap. I am disappointed that the discs are not available for play on US players.
The main story about the lead investigator (Hallgrim...The Eagle....he sees things from the big picture)....is interesting though ultimately collapses into the re-tread plot of most British and Scandinavian shows (inappropriate sex).
The first three episodes were best for me...the Russian bad guy Sergej was really good and the cat and mouse with The Eagle was interesting. That actor stars in the Danish The Protectors...and is quite good there.
Later episodes seemed to overuse the plots of so many British and American shows....but I guess it is fair that the foreign police procedurals use the same criminal issues faced across the globe.
The show gives good insight into the multi-cultural nature of the European countries. Unlike a show like MI-5 there is not criticism of U.S. policies as I recall.
Sufficient to say that the main characters are interesting, the acting is good, the scenery and venues are good and the theme song is awesome.
2 Days in the Valley (1996)
This is a comedy
This is one of my favorite movies of the past 10-15 years. The plot is intriguing and the characters are terrific. But, it is truly a romantic comedy and not a crime drama, even if there are a few dead bodies by the time it is done. James Spader is an incredible bad guy and Eric Stolz and Jeff Daniels are great if incompetent cops. I try to watch this about once a year just for the enjoyment of watching the various plot lines come together.
