One-dimensional movie about the love of the deaf people doesn't have enduring quality
This movie is, as so many Dutch movies, beautiful shot, but it seems to me a moral movie I didn't want to see. It's a movie about how two deaf people do possible see (and 'hear') the world around them. It has not a story which appeals to me. Two deaf people who are in love, which love is criticized by their parents and whose deafness is ridiculed by bystanders who don't understand their behavior which is defined by their handicap, is too one-dimensional. To me it seems that many Dutch movies, like this one, are made by enthusiastic cinematographers who do disgust normal citizen. It seems to me, that angry young Cinema lovers when came to the big city and started on the film school the made after graduating this school their painfully financed flawed masterpieces special to bash their own often small-town youth,. So, characters are often, like the cinematographers want to be, young, misunderstood, silly, lonely, unconventional, often intelligent, recalcitrant and fighting against society (parents, friends, bosses, teachers... everyone who does have more authority). This Dutch society is still a calvinistic, goody-goody, straightforward but sometimes cruel, brutal, and very stupid society. Although the vision of the lonely heart who fights the world can be an interesting starting point in making a movie, it results in many Dutch movies, as in this movie in an unwanted two-edged, simplified view on the Dutch society. This view is probably the result of the idea of moviemakers that to gain a cinema audience movie stories must have strong contrasts and must be simplified, otherwise the general public wouldn't understand the movie. Together with the other Dutch movie-characteristic; the seemingly impossible ability to write good dialogues, and the Dutch need to show (long)sex scenes results in many movies that failed. Although in this movie about the impossible love of two deaf people dialogue is of course not so important, it makes this movie more an art-video then an entertaining spellbinding picture which many Dutch reviewers do want to see in this movie.

Portrait of a Powerhouse Woman
The documentary of Nancy Pelosi by her daughter Alexandra gives a fascinating insight of how a powerful woman can influence politics and how reasonable decision making can be possible in the world's most powerful democracy. As European I despised president Trump, who did betray the office of president. I was impressed how ms. Pelosi did not lose her calm in dealing with this disaster called Trump, the most horrible and extreme narcissistic president the USA had. It's impressing. If you wanna know how politics in the Capitol are made look at this doc. The portrait gives an impressive image of a woman who was a positive and progressive powerhouse. She did almost never give up fighting for the good cause, inspiring for women and .... men (who want to serve democracy).
When I read the negative comments in this section I do think most commenters don't like her (do the hate (this) women?) and don't want to see the special images we can see, because her daughter can film her 'object' so closely.
The work of Pelosi consists of almost every day talking to people (much of the time by phoning them). She persuade and convince all the time politicians of both sides of the congress. She has a formidable memory and acted to everyone with respect and dignity.
The Midnight Sky (2020)

What a hopelessly bad movie this is!
It's a real shame that George Clooney has started directing; he can't do that at all. Apart from the unlikely story and the incredible plot development, there is no speed, but unnecessary sentimentality. What a miss. And if Clooney wants to repeat the success of Gravity with the fragments of satellites flying off the spaceship, he should have left the direction to someone else and at least let the story be more believable.
Mignonnes (2020)
Beautiful and Brave film
The film is indeed a beautiful portrait of a girl who is in a certain conflict between the traditional world in which her mother grew up and in which her aunt forces her to become a woman and the world that social media more or less gives to a generation of young girls. In other words, it offers the viewer a view of the world of a girl who is sensitive (like so many girls) to the world presented in social media. Whether or not driven by the inherent insecurity (for whatever reason) that seems to be common to many young girls. A certain promiscuity is an expression of this in this film. Anyone who watches the movie will see a portrait of a beautiful and powerful girl who will probably eventually navigate between these Scylla and Charybdis. A very beautiful and especially brave film ... with a beautiful transcendent ending
Holland: Natuur in de Delta (2015)
Beautiful images, messy editing, comments. the music is over the top
The documentary shows more than beautiful images. For example beavers in Holland that have such a big positive influence on nature; beautiful shots of the game of hares, the sea eagle ... etc. But what a messy structure and awkward commentary that was written too hastily and also: with poor Dutch! Illogical twists and turns. And the music choice is sad. Pathetic, heavily romantic, here and there bombastic ... that should have been much better. The documentary makers do have gold in their hands. What has been filmed by nature filmmakers with such incredible patience and craftsmanship is not properly used: the result is disappointing due to a meager montage, choice of music and rattling commentary.
