Sex Actually with Alice Levine (2021)
Pretty boring
Hard to believe that someone as funny as Levine can make such a boring documentary. Her podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno is hysterically funny. This is just drivel.
Stargirl (2020)
Grace Wanderwaal is an absolute superstar
I can't believe how talented this girl is. No acting experience but so much talent, chard and charisma. I could watch her opening an envelope. Nice story. It tries to be uplifting but I can't help feel a sense of emptiness at the finish.
Court Justice: Sydney (2017)
Interesting
I enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the court system. I have read the other reviews. I thought the sentences were quite fair although on appeal some people didn't get prison when they should have. Would be good if more people saw this series. It would instil confidence in the legal system.
Strange Holiday (1970)
Children may like this but probably not
For some reason it is on late night tv tonight in Australia. Dreadful acting. Implausible plot. The children have a lot of firearms and shoot a snake for no reason and a pig for food.
World War II in Colour (2009)
More action than interviews
The gold standard of world war 2 documentaries is the World at War. This series differs in a few respects. It is in colour which is more visually appealing. It is much shorter than the World at War. It has a lot less interviews. The World at War was filmed much earlier when more participants were available, particularly notable people e.g. Hitler's secretary. Overall, this series is good on footage and is more concise but lacks the humanity of the interviews.
