Sell This House (2003– )
1/10
Worse design show ever
13 September 2020
I'm shocked at the high rating given this show on IMDB because if a worse home decorating show has been on the air, I have been fortunate enough not to see it. I've never seen it mentioned that the home sellers are on a very tight budget but apparently they are as everything is done as cheaply as possible.

I would love to know if Roger actually has any interior design credentials because he has very little taste. He loves to use sheets as tablecloths and as window treatments. I have seen him paint rooms in colors that are shocking like lime green and deep blue. His reasoning for painting a smallish room deep blue was to make the white trim "pop". Good grief.

The prospective buyers make rude comments about things that have nothing do with the actual house and the buyers seem pretty stupid not to realize a bedroom painted a dark red isn't going to win over any buyers; or that clutter all over the house is a no-no as is too much furniture crammed into a small room.

Disappointed
4 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've only see the first four episodes so I may come back to change my rating. I've had several friends tell me to watch this because they know how much I like Sam Elliott. I thought it was a 60 minute drama, not a sitcom so that was my first surprise.

My second unpleasant surprise was the damn laugh track. Yes, I know it's filmed in front of a live studio audience but I'm sure they are told when to laugh. I don't mind a laugh track when there is something funny to laugh about but to have the laughing when a character says something innocuous is annoying as hell. I was tempted to not even watch this show when I heard the first fake audience laughing. When are producers going to realize this is 2020, not 1956 anymore? Most people don't like laugh tracks and if your show is not funny, don't make believe it is.

I don't see all the hoopla with this show but like I said, I'm only four episodes in. Not finding a lot of humor here except the first episode with the Uggs on Colt's feet. Nothing in the the four episodes that had me laughing out loud like I used to do with Frasier. I guess that's why there's a laugh track which was surprising on a Netflix original show.

Then I've been reading that Masterson was fired because of an alleged rape or sexual impropriety from years ago. I guess in Hollywood, you're guilty until proven innocent. Not sure if I'm going to bother watching any more episodes unless there is nothing else on.

MacGyver (2016–2021)

PLEASE NO MORE REBOOTS!
31 August 2020
I'm not sure if I hate this reboot more than the new Magnum P.I. or not. They are both awful. This MacGyver has nothing in common with the original, which was a far better show. I wish Hollywood would just make a new show without using any of the original title or names.

That being said, even if this wasn't a reboot, it is a horrible, ridiculous show. The only reason I watched it a few times was because of actor George Eads who is not longer with the show.

Hollywood is running scared of being accused of racism, so they covered all the bases in this show: white guy, black guy, Asian woman, Hispanic woman, heavily tattooed woman, old guy and even a little person!

None of it adds to the show, the plots are lame and so is the acting. Can't believe it was actually renewed. I can only assume the people who actually enjoy this show must be under 40.

Most overrated movie I've ever seen
24 August 2020
I heard so much about this movie so when I saw the DVD in the $5 bin I picked it up. Halfway through the movie I was ready to just shut it off. While the acting was excellent, there was a lot of violence and there really was no plot and nobody to root for in this overly long mob movie. Every character was just plain unlikeable and by the end I didn't care who got whacked.

I am totally shocked at the high rating this movie has gotten here on IMDB. Maybe it was for the acting itself, I can't imagine it was for the storyline because there really isn't one.

Stupid & boring
1 May 2020
I watched the first episode and hated it. The second one was a bit better but then it's gone even further downhill. As with all new shows, we have our token gay person. The storylines are dull and the acting isn't much better. I doubt it will be renewed but then I felt the same way about Two Broke Girls and that garbage was on for years.

Elizabeth & Jackie are supposed to be sister but they couldn't be further apart in looks. There is about a foot difference in their heights & one is big boned and the other tiny & petite. Something about that bugs me as does the fact that Pauley Perrette's hair always looks greasy & unkempt. When I heard it was cancelled I wasn't surprised; it's one of the worst comedies I've seen in years.

Follows the same formula almost every episode
20 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
If you seen a few episodes you pretty much know the usual formula: person gets sick, goes to Princeton Hospital where they are diagnosed with Disease A and started on treatment. However treatment doesn't work or makes the patient worse so they try something else for suspected Disease B. When that doesn't work they go back to the "white board" to try and figure out what it is.

Rinse and repeat a few times before Dr. House has a defining moment and finally knows what is wrong with the patient. Most of the time the patient lives. The disease or ailment may be different but the formula remains the same.

Dr. House is the most unlikeable man I have ever seen on Network TV. He's rude, condescending and mean-spirited. I can't believe anybody falls in love with him and Dr. Cuddy, who is some head honcho in the hospital dresses like she is hitting the club instead of going to work in a demanding, often male oriented occupation. It's an interesting show, the first few times you watch, then it becomes oh so very predictable.

The Conners (2018–2025)

What a train wreck
13 November 2019
Roseanne and John Goodman were the only reason to watch this show. Other than Jackie the rest of the crew are horrible actors especially Becky, who I never liked, even in the original episodes. The Conner's leaves me with a lot of questions, which perhaps were addressed in later episodes. I quit watching after the first couple of episodes until last night's and it seems to have gotten even worse.

Where is Jackie's son Andy? How come nobody ever discusses Jerry, Dan & Roseanne's last child? I know in the first episode of the reboot before Roseanne was fired it was mentioned that he was on a ship but has he never been mentioned again? Why wasn't he at Roseanne's funeral? Why does Mary, DJ's son with his wife look 100% black instead of mixed race? I've never seen a mixed race person who looks 100% white or black. They couldn't find an actress who looked like a mixed race person? I can't stand Harris and Mark is annoying as hell. Where did they get these people from?

This reboot ticks off all the liberal boxes: a cross-dressing young son, a lesbian, an alcoholic, an interracial couple (not that there is anything wrong with any of these) it's just so unrealistic that every TV show has to have at least one gay person on every show.

I can't imagine it will get renewed. ABC cancelled Last Man Standing which was actually a nice, wholesome show to put on this drivel. Other than one cop show I don't watch anything on ABC anymore. Bunch of hypocrites.

What a ridiculous show
17 October 2019
While I liked Brad Garrett when he was on Everybody Loves Raymond he is horribly miscast in this "comedy". In real life he's 59 years old but they're trying to pass him off as somebody young enough to have small twins and a girlfriend who is 22 years younger than him. There isn't anything funny about this show. The kids are ridiculous and act like grownups and one is so ridiculously flamboyant in his gayness as a little kid that it makes me cringe. How it got renewed for a second season is beyond me.

How did this drivel get renewed for a 2nd season?
12 October 2019
I don't know what is worse about this show; the fact that they replaced the gorgeous, TALL Tom Selleck with some short Hispanic guy. Or maybe it's the fact that Higgins has gone from an older British guy to a woman who apparently was some British spy with all kinds of self defense moves. Then we have the lame storylines and the blah acting.

The weird thing is the individual episodes are rated pretty high when most reviewers are giving this show a 1 or worse so how exactly does IMDB's rating system work? Maybe if you never saw the original Magnum PI you might not realize how awful this show is. The original had some humor and Tom Selleck's character was just so very likeable. Nobody in this reboot is likeable.

I am at a loss to try and figure out how it got renewed. Last night's episode was really stupid. Bad guys infiltrate Robin's Nest to break into the vault. Juliette Higgins won't give them the info so instead of the bad guys threatening to shoot the older woman there if she doesn't tell them what they want to know they waterboard Juliette. Good grief - who writes this garbage. Do me a favor - pull up some original Magnum PI episodes and then review this drivel against that great show.

Horrible show
5 October 2019
Never even heard of this show when it was on originally. I guess I was busy raising two boys and didn't watch TV much. I've only discovered it recently on H & I because I don't have cable. It has to be one of the worst shows ever. The Storylines, acting, stunts - all of it is just cheesy. I think it was made for teenage boys.

However watching Lorenzo Lamas in his younger days makes it worthwhile.

Cute and Funny
4 October 2019
I gave this show an 9 which I rarely do for comedies. If it didn't have a laugh track or at least toned it down a lot I would have given it a 9. Bob, a 50 year old white guy falls in love with his Nigerian nurse after having a heart attack. He's feels very attracted to her. The actress playing Abishola is hysterical with the deadpan delivery of her lines. Her aunt, uncle & young son live with her and they are pretty funny as are her friends on the bus.

It will be interesting to see where there goes.

Chuck Lorre - your audience is not stupid. You don't need a laugh track to tell us what is funny. That is so 1950 & 60.

I wanted to try something different so I turned this on. Very disappointed. I felt like I was watching a combination of two or three different movies and TV shows. The casting is awful, the mother is played by somebody who's only 12 years older than the main character who's name I've already forgotten but he certainly over acted in this TV show.

Typical sitcom with hot wife & overweight slob of a husband
30 June 2019
This is your typical 90's sitcom where the wife is very attractive and the husband is overweight, unattractive, a slob and a liar. Why Cheryl would be married to this guy is beyond me. She has a pretty sister and they have a disgusting fat pig of a brother who is always taking off his shirt and sometimes wears crop tops and shorts showing off his massive stomach. He is truly gross.

Jim and Cheryl are always lying to each other but naturally by the end of the show everything is fine and dandy. There is truly nothing funny about this show. I watch it sometimes at night on LAFF-TV because I don't have cable but it's on basically to help me fall asleep.

Going downhill
9 May 2019
I loved the first few episodes and while I know this is a drama, it packs almost too much drama into a show that is less than an hour. I liked Nick a lot in the beginning, not so much now. Ditto for the pregnant daughter. I had high hopes for this show in the beginning but now I'm quickly losing interest.

25 March 2019
This would've been a very good episode with someone who was much younger than Betty Davis. She is supposed to be a woman with seven children, the youngest being two years old. In real life Betty Davis was 51 by this time and she looked every bit of it. Plus what women in the 1800s wore bright red lipstick?

Great New Show!
1 October 2018
I really enjoyed this more than I thought I would. A man who is now atheist, yet was brought up in the church (his father is a reverend), gets a friend request from God. He thinks someone is messing with him but then God sends him a friend suggestion from a guy, then a woman and the story interweaves beautifully from there.

I know a lot of people won't turn in because it has God in the title but I think just as many, if not more, will. Christians have missed shows like Touched by an Angel and this is sort of a today's version without the angels. However, I don't necessarily think you have to be Christian, Jewish or whatever to find the story a good one. I'm only reviewing the pilot episode so I hope the quality continues.

A Quiet Place (2018)
5/10
It's original but not much else.
20 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this the other night and while I did enjoy the original premise, there were too many things that bothered me about the movie and most of them have already been mentioned. The originality is the only reason I gave it a 5 instead of a lower score.

1. Leaving the little kid to walk at the end of the line when they were going home. What normal parent would do that? Most of us would have one parent in front and one in the back.

2. Who planted all that corn? They certainly didn't do it by hand.

3. How come the nail was sticking straight up on the stairs? I know she pulled it with some laundry but nobody would have nailed it like that in the first place. Why didn't she either pull it out or bend it so nobody else would step on it.

4. How come they never wore shoes? Wouldn't it have easier to wear some quiet rubber soled shoes than to get bags & bags of sand to lay down to make a path? Since it appeared to be autumn where they were what happens when it gets cold? Still no shoes?

5. Wouldn't most women be especially careful NOT to get pregnant under the circumstances they were living with?

6. How come it took a kid to figure out the creature's one weakness?

7. Why did the father scream at the alien to get it away from the kids? Couldn't he have thrown something away from himself to attract its attention?

8. Electricity - where was it coming from?

Some people here have mentioned the fact that the mother was able to shoot the thing in the face and kill it and if she could do it why didn't the army? Well I believe it was because when it had its face opened because of the high frequency sound it was vulnerable where it wasn't at other times. That's my take on it.

While the acting was very good and it was different than a lot of movies out there, so much didn't make sense that I found it distracting.

The end ruined the whole thing
12 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I realize in Hollywood money is their god so even though it would have been better off to have June escape Gilead with Emily and the baby the series is being dragged on for at least one more season. If it's anything like The Walking Dead they will continue year after year until everybody loses interest.

June had 3 escapes this year and although the first 2 had her recaptured due to no fault of her own this last one was just unbelievable. I realize that she wants to rescue Hannah but how is she supposed to do that in Gilead? She certainly can't go back to the Waterford's after taking the baby away. Fred is going to figure out that Rita and Nick had something to do with this escape plan.

So unless June is going to join some resistance group to fight Gilead and get Hannah back I may just be done with this show if she goes back to the Waterford's.

On a positive note Aunt Lydia finally got what she deserved. Emily's new commander turned out to be good as I suspected and I almost felt sorry for Serena. I really hope that this story is wrapped up in Season 3 before it turns into another Walking Dead.

Warning: Spoilers
This show has shown a strong marriage and family and now for some reason they are going in this marriage on the rocks direction. I am not liking it at all. If I want to see a dysfunctional marriage I just have to look at most of the other so called comedies out there. I loved Dre & Bow together.

Is the series ending and someone thought having them get divorced was a good idea? If this continues I'm done with Black-ish.

Worst episode ever
2 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I was never a big fan of this show but since I don't have cable I would half watch it while doing other things but last night was the worst and most ridiculous episode ever. Serial arsonist DuClair or something like that is broken out of jail by Joey Lawrence's character, (not sure why as I didn't turn it on until a few minutes after it started.) People die, car chases, etc., pretty much the usual until DuClair starts a fire in the forest after escaping once again which is starting to consume everything EXCEPT wherever the cast happens to be. It's like there's a protective bubble around them. Steve tries to get help while the rest of the gang take refuge in an abandoned shack which is also miraculously untouched. Steve comes back with a helicopter with three straps but instead of our three cops using the straps to pull themselves into the helicopter Steve decides to lift the whole house up with this small helicopter! The stupidity of these writers has finally done if for me. Between the corny CGI, terrible story lines including Steve needing a liver transplant and yet he still works like nothing happened and then these crazy scenes I am done with this show.

I guess Friday is the wasteland for network shows because I can't even believe it's even made it this far.

One of the best shows in years
15 July 2017
Set in what I believe is supposed to be the future, Offred aka June is a handmaid because most of the women (and men) in this future USA now called Gilead are infertile and she had a previous successful pregnancy and birth when she was married. While trying to escape from Gilead to Canada, June, her husband and child are caught and separated. June is sent to a camp where she is taught all the new ways of doing things, most of it shocking and brutal.

I'm not going to go into the whole storyline as by now you know what it's about. I am going to say if this show, Elizabeth Moss and Aunt Lydia don't win an Emmy or Golden Globe I will be shocked. There are maybe two or three TV shows on the air at this time that I will never miss and this is one of them although I believe it is only on Hulu right now as it is an original Hulu series. It can be scary because the people that now control Gilead appeared to do it so effortlessly while most of the residents seemed completely apathetic to what was happening all around them. Reminds me a bit of what is happening in this country right now with our rights slowly being eroded in the name of homeland security.

Blue Bloods: Justice Served (2013)
Season 4, Episode 8
1/10
Worst episode ever
15 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
While I realize we have to suspend disbelief on cop shows this episode was the worst. First off Danny has jury duty. Being that he is a cop, he would never be picked for jury duty. I worked with a police chaplain who told me he never got picked for jury duty because of his occupation and I seriously doubt any attorney would want Danny on the jury. That was the first ridiculous story line. But of course it was the excuse needed for Danny to be the hero as the only person on the jury to believe the accused was actually innocent. A mistrial is declared when another juror tells everyone Danny is a cop, his sister is a DA, etc. and then he starts investigating the case.

The second had Jamie's partner Eddie getting sexually assaulted while on a date. As a cop wouldn't you check to make sure your date didn't have any record for violence especially in this day and age? After Jamie suspected something happened to Eddie, he looked up the guy's name from her phone when she went to get them some food, came back to the precinct and checked him out. Illegal? I'm not sure but as a cop why couldn't she defend herself? Aren't they trained at the Academy to do just that? He didn't have a weapon and he wasn't that big so I understand why Eddie didn't want to say anything. She was afraid all the male cops would be thinking the same thing. Then SHE is the one to arrest this guy along with Jamie? Seriously?

I have wanted to like this show since the first episode because I adore Tom Selleck but the plots are just so lame. I happened to catch this old episode tonight because there was nothing else on and it reminded me of why I don't watch Blue Bloods anymore.
