No Country for Old Men (2007)
What Were The Coen's Thinking?
I think the Coen's need to go back to film school and learn the basic rules of film making. One of which is that you never leave the audience hanging like they did with this production. All the actors delivered a great performance, but it is hard to do any great acting job when the Directors keep killing off the characters just as they start to get interesting. I set through this movie and just when it started to really get interesting the whole thing ends without even leaving it up to the audience to decide what would happen next as their was nothing to decide on. That was what the story was supposed to accomplish and failed to do. It just goes to show that what Hollywood is really lacking these days is "Talent". The new generation of film makers is either to lazy to come up with an interesting story line and decide that it is easier to make a re-make of an old classic just because the screen play is already done or in this case they are trying to be funny by just leaving out an ending to the whole movie. I would hope that they would have some excuse like they were over budget and just ran out of film, but to end a movie as they did without a conclusion to the story is not only very disappointing to the theater goer, but very stupid as well. Just my opinion, but this was one movie that I did demand my money back as it seems they were just missing the last reel. Go see it though and you be the judge for yourself. Enjoy! Yours in the movies.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008)
I wanted to get up and leave the theater
Just another movie that is relying heavily on special effects rather than acting. Unbelievable, I just wanted to get up and leave the theater. Bad Acting to Some Acting and then No Acting pretty much sums up this movie. On the other hand, it is great for kids and if you want to get a good laugh at the story itself. It would have been fun to have the budget they had spent on this movie and put it towards something more entertaining. Stock up on Popcorn, Candy & Drinks to help you make it through the movie. This is one movie that you don't have to worry about missing anything important just because you have to take a bathroom break. The nice thing about it is that you can take a break anywhere during the movie and not miss anything. I think this movie was just made to show our support for the Olympics being held in China and to help boost their economy and help to promote their film industry. Have Fun With This One!
Copperhead (2008)
Copperhead
A good attempt at making a Western by a foreign film maker. Attention to detail was very good on creating an authentic looking western town. Wardrobe was very well chosen and authentic to the time period being depicted. Props and Set Dressings were very well represented for the era. The Characters were very well portrayed. The Dialog of the Characters was very well written for each part played. I was very disappointed in their attempt at making computer generated snakes though as they were not very realistic looking. However, it was a good movie to just set back with the lights off eating popcorn with good company. Just a good movie to stay up late for and scare each other.
King Kong (2005)
Another Failed Attempt At A Remake
Movie is more focus'd on special effects and not acting and is another remake where all the work has already been done from story line to script. Film makers and directors have no vision or creativity when it comes to making a movie today and sadly movies are getting worse and not better and this was also to long to try and set through as some parts of the story line were just to outrageous to believe. The acting also is terrible and more attention should be made to teach actors how to act and not just yell, scream and cry. Universal should really be ashamed of this one as it can't get much worse than this and I found myself wanting to walk out after the first hour. Hollywood has really lost it's ability to make a good movie now days and I hope things will improve in the future with the quality of the movies being made.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
This Feature Lacked Imagination
Johnny Depp did a great job of acting, but the character that he portrayed I found to be dull and not funny at all. I was extremely disappointed with the Oompa Loompa's as being cloned as one character and found the sound track not matching with these characters most of the time. The set design was great and very colorful and added to the movie. The songs that were performed were also very dry and lacked imagination. Directors are now making remake after remake because they lack the imagination to created on their own and the work is already done for them, from writing the screen play to the characters and the layout of the movie. I was very disappointed with this feature. A person should not try and compare this remake with the original or they will really be disappointed when they see it.
