Siya (2022)
Excellent
This is Oscar, Bafta, Cannes material. It takes a capable captain to steer the actors, the cinematographers and everyone involved to create this masterpiece. We cried, we huffed and puffed during the entire film. A movie that gets you talking in between is exactly my kind of movie. I tried finding flaws in the direction but couldn't. Throughout the film, it shows the downtrodden people of rural India being defeated and losing an inevitable battle to the system and the evil people in power. But in the last second it shows the survival of the human spirit. Incredible experience. Hope to see stuff more from Manish Mundra.
Gullak (2019)
No words enough
This is by far the most incredible indian tv series ever produced. Writers ko pranaam, so talented! Aapko pata hai is series mein kya hai? Aapko nahin Pata?!?!?! A middle class family of 4 and their daily struggles and how they deal with it with each character bringing their own flair and impeccable acting. Every season keeps getting better and better!
Sunflower (2021)
Kept me on the edge...
Feel good factor? Check! OCD central character? Check! Hard working Bombay police? Check! Amazing supporting actors? Check! Saddistic psychotic director who will keep you begging for more? Check! What a first season! The sculpting of every character is artful to the point where you are even suspicious of Ashish Vidyarthi who only wants a 'perfect society'. Sunil Grover has a massive responsibility to get even more better next year (I honestly do not know how he is gonna top his own performance) cause we will not settle for anything less. Cant wait for season 2.
Pataakha (2018)
OMG
THE REASON IM WRITING THIS IN CAPS IS BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER EVER LAUGHED SO HARD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. VISHAL BHARADWAJ, YOU ARE NOT A GENIUS, YOU ARE INGENIOUS! Bless the entire team for such an amazing experience! Fabulous work, Pls collaborate again if possible. Incredible work of art! And the messages, true that! No more anger.
Supergirl (2015)
Amazing!
6.3? Really? Why? This is one of the best super hero series in recent times! Second only to Arrow and definitely better than Flash. She is cute, adorable and the director incorporates it really well in the series cause she is hated by some characters for the same reasons. Come on, give her a chance. We like hope, we like to smile and we like cute and more than decent special effects. And people who are disappointed too early, i'm sure the DC team is gonna make sure you see Arrow, Flash and Supergirl in the same episode (Episodes hopefully). So, personally i feel this is one of the best premiers this year, kudos to the creators.
Mom (2013)
Y only 7 out of 10?!
I love Anna Faris! There, I said it. She is like the Juhi Chawla of Hollywood. Or Juhi Chawala could be the Anna Faris of Bollywood. Either way, I don't understand why this show only has a 7 out of 10 rating on IMDb. It's one of the funniest series I've ever seen. The writers are amazing and there is fresh new stuff in every episode. Sadie Calvano is beautiful, Blake Garrett is cute and the comedy timing between Anna Faris and Allison Janney is impeccable. Haters - Please have an open mind! One of the most hilarious shows on TV currently. I hope this series gets more seasons and we look forward to new characters like Kevin Pollak.
House of Cards (2013)
Pure genius!
I actually clapped and was laughing after the Presidential inaugural speech in the pilot episode. His expressions, his style, interaction with the camera..Who else but Kevin Spacey can deliver that! You love him but he still scares you at the same time! (Maybe thats just cause i remember the chills i got after Usual Suspects) Beautiful, just beautiful. Amazing cast, brilliant writing and excellent directing work. It is a pleasure to see Robin Wright and she is as classy as it gets. And Kate Mara is perfect as the success hungry journalist. Cant wait for the series to unfold. Congratulations to Netflix on this huge success.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012)
Refreshing!
Simple, sweet and funny! It has all the ingredients of a super-hit romantic movie. Watching the comic antics of Genelia reminds me of the ever bubbly Juhi Chawla who made us laugh for more than a decade. Wonderful performances by everyone involved (Wish the south-Indian minister had more lines). Beautiful music, not overdone dialogues and a simple story which are so welcome. And of course, the icing on the cake are the songs by Atif Aslam and watching him perform at the end of the movie. You will fall in love with the newly wed couple, Genelia and Ritesh. You can feel that they had as much fun making the movie as we had seeing it. Can't wait for the DVD to be released.
Seeking Justice (2011)
Beautifully executed!
My first review on IMDb, LOVE the website. Trying to understand why this movie has been given 6.0 only on IMDb. Nicholas Cage excels yet again in this movie. And hats off to everyone for the timing, the jumpy moments, the background score, the story line all so well done. It keeps you gripped till the end. How Nicholas Cage gets into the skin of the character is like watching a master at work. Even a simple scene, where he is holding a gun like a common man would, shows attention to detail. January Jones (Now known worldwide as the diamond girl from X-Men first class) supports the movie quite nicely and I would look forward to seeing her in more roles like these. Not a big fan of Guy Pearce but he does a decent job. Excellent movie - must watch!
