A Man Called Otto (2022)
Would have been perfect.....
It was such an emotional movie. I really loved the flashbacks and scenes Otto had with Marisol and Malcom. Marisol's patience with Otto was touching as was Otto's support and respect for her. The flashbacks are what really got me. You can see why he felt the way he did about Sonya. He was alone and she saved him. "Now ask me the right way."
Unfortunately, the entire social media journalist and the removing of the seniors from their homes to build condos storyline took me out of the movie. I understand why something had to happen to close out the current timeline part and wrap it all up, but they could have done it better.
Birdgirl (2021)
I Can't Unsee This.
When you love a show or movie so much you would kill for a new season, prequel or sequel and then all but immediately wish it never came out; Birdgirl is one of them.
Some Like It Hot (1959)
Typical For The Time
Though done well, adding the musical element to it is typical for the time. For some reason unless it was marketed as a drama the element of song seems to be part of movies made up and through that era.
Don't get me wrong, the acting was great as Monroe especially really draws you in, but I cannot say it was a comedy. I know that's what it was meant to be and it probably was for its time, but I honestly didn't laugh once.
The Longest Yard (1974)
35 Minutes of a Fake Game
I was so bored I fast forwarded through over half of the game in the end. It was so dragged out I was bored to tears and I like sports movies. I even love 70's sports movies such as the original Bad News Bears.
How is this a comedy? The best I got was a slight chuckle from time to time. In fact, the first scene made me cringe. There was no need for that violence. Simply making him an alcoholic, has been football player would have been enough to establish his character.
I have no idea why this is such a classic.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Uptight Fans
If only you uptight fans broke down ROTJ the same way you have broken down every new SW made, I would then trust your opinion. You've had these stories planned and played out in your heads, foreseeing every scene for 15 years, so I understand why you've had your share of disappointments. The problem is you don't understand that ROTJ is no different than any of the new movies if you only took your childhood glorification out of it.
Granted I can find faults in many of the post OT and many stories I wish went a different direction, but in no way am I going to say any of them destroyed the franchise, including the PT, which I definitely didn't enjoy as a whole.
This movie told me almost everything I wanted to know about Solo's past and not for a second am I going to let my fantasy of what I thought it should be like ruin the movie for me.
