Avatar (2009)
A Masterpiece of Awe-inspiring Cinema History
This movie is undoubtedly a landmark achievement in Cinema history. This movie will not disappoint anyone and will grab your imagination and never let it go for the entire length of the film. James Cameron has undone himself with Avatar and has combined Creativity, Audacity, talent to create this unparalleled masterpiece. The sheer scope of the movie is unbelievable considering that it was done through CGI technology and the characters in the story are captivating. Same Worthington will be remembered for his spectacular portrayal in the film. Jason Lang and Sigourny Weaver make dramatic returns to the big screen and both are at their best in this film. Michelle Rodgriguez will be remembered for her wise-cracking roll in this film. Zoe Saldona, Wes Tudi, C.C.H. Pounder, and Las Alonso have brought believability to their characters in the Na'vi tribe. Forget about box-office numbers and expectations, this film will stand alone as a monumental artistic achievement.
Center Stage: Turn It Up (2008)
Surprisingly Entertaining
There have been a great deal of movies that have come out that are oriented around dancing, but few have actually had any depth or novelty to them. Center Stage: Turn It Up actually brings something besides cheap camera tricks and cookie-cutter routines. The leads in the movie won't garner any Oscar nominations for their performances, but for an unknown cast, they do a good job with the movie. The choreography is entertaining without being over the top. The main thing that this film should be commended on however is that it doesn't put a rift between urban/hip-hop and traditional ballet and does briefly show how they can be molded together.
