The Requin (2022)
I'll save you the time.... DON'T WATCH THIS!
I figured I'd give this one a shot because I liked James Tupper in "Revenge", but this movie is just AWFUL! Also Alicia Silverstone is still CLUELESS!
Don't Look Up (2021)
This movie is a parody of our willful ignorance
For decades, the scientists have warned us about Climate Change and the effects to our planet, and we just glazed over it ignoring the facts and data.
Now the effects of Climate Change are happening in real time - with devastating wild fires on the West Coast, horrific tornadoes in the south and midwest, devastating hurricanes in the southeast - and STILL nobody is taking it seriously! Needlessly, mass numbers of people die from this man made phenomenon.
In addition, when COVID hit globally in December 2019, the former administration knew of the severity and dangers that the virus posed but he intentionally downplayed the virus - he even admitted as much in an interview with Bob Woodward way back in February 2020! He repeatedly lied and spread disinformation about the virus, lied about when the virus will "disappear", told Americans to inject bleach, take non approved (by the FDA) medicines to treat COVID, all the while the pandemic raged out of control with hundreds of thousands of Americans needlessly dying.
The asteroid barreling towards earth in the movie is a metaphor for Climate Change barreling towards earth - and not having a sense of urgency to combat Climate Change will have drastic effects to our planet; we've known this for decades but did not act.
You can also make the claim that the asteroid is a metaphor for COVID in that not having a sense of urgency by wearing masks, practicing social distancing, getting vaccinated and boostered will prolong the pandemic and exasperate the virus with mutating into more contagious variants, thus the cycle of the pandemic never ends because of willful ignorance, ignoring the science, facts, and data - and nonstop disinformation from right wing media outlets.
The writers and cast in this movie nailed their parts and the storyline - and proves how screwed up we are as a country, culturally and politically - especially with disinformation and lies.
The good news is that we still have time to act on Climate Change if we get serious right NOW, as in 2022 by passing Build Back Better and other Climate provisions, and make this Climate emergency a PRIORITY!
We also have time to save lives in this country by taking this COVID virus seriously and have EVERYONE get vaccinated and boostered so that we can put an end to this virus once and for all and we can all get back to our lives and prosper as a nation.
The question is: Will we keep ignoring the warning signs, or do something about it before it's too late?
True Story (2021)
MUST WATCH!
The first few episodes were slow, but about half way it gets real good, and then you just don't want to stop watching! Hart and Snipes are freaking awesome! I'm blown away with Kevin Hart's amazing abilities to go from a comedy role to a suspense/thriller/action role. Amazing series.
The Blacklist: Nachalo (2021)
The entire series of Blacklist comes down to this very episode
All the answers of the past 8 season in this one episode! That helicopter yanking Liz out of the FBI black site was totally badazz! The young James Spader looks exactly like James Spader did, they did really good on that one!
The Devil You Know (2013)
Is this the best they could come up with?
I just watched Rosamund Pikes' Return to Sender and was hoping this movie would be better. In fact, it was a lot worse! Many of the scenes had no point, most of the actors were way to serious and uncomfortable looking. The directing was awful and this film was a complete waste of time. There was no tension that a thriller usually has. It was too tedious and seemed like nobody even wanted to make this movie. I don't get it because Lena and Pikes are pros, especially Lena Olin, who's been doing movies forever! It doesn't make sense that they would put out such a poorly made movie like this. The ending was beyond stupid. The movie scores/music was the best part - actually the only good part, except for the constant filming of the girls' legs in the movie.
The Confession (2011)
It's nice to know that Kiefer Sutherland hasn't changed much
And that was meant as a compliment. Assertive, the fact that nothing, no one will ever change his mind about anything... and when you get on his bad side; you're as good as dead -- quite literally LOL ********** SOME COMMENTS BELOW MAY BE SPOILERS SO CAUTION READING FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT YES SEEN 'THE CONFESSION' YET. ************* I have to admit that I was shocked that each episode would last only 5-8 or so minutes each. They should have at least left out the "Previously... on...." for more dialogue, but I guess there was a method to their madness when they put the series together.
Each Chapter I watched, as short as they were, really gave me the chills, with both Kiefer and the priest's performance. It was highly believable, yet disturbing on many levels re the conversations that took place, and especially at the end of Chapter 8 when Father revealed his darkest sins and we found out that The Confessor is the son of the Priest after describing how he burned his hand as a kid.
The flashback scene with the mother jumping off the balcony after the Priest said to her that she better jump otherwise once he gets his hands on her, she was good as dead. That was disturbing to say the least, with the little Confessor standing and watching as she fell out of the balcony. Kids never forget stuff like that.
And as Kiefer's character shows time and time again (even in his "24" days) that when he wants to kill or attempts to kill, he will follow through regardless of the consequences so long as he gets his revenge.
But, good for the priest (in a way), The Confessor decided that he had compassion and that he had changed for the better since the childhood days, but by not killing him was a greater punishment than killing him considering that in the future after each killing the Confessor performs, he will let Father know about it, over and over again, and make him feel so guilty with emotional pain and suffering till the day he dies. That's worse than a quick and painless death.
And then The Confessor says to father that he must swear to secrecy -- effectively banning him from ever mentioning to anyone, including the police about what kind of person the Confessor has become. He really did have all his bases covered.
We'll see if they make another season. The first one went way too fast!!
