Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me (2023)
This is how you do it!
I don't understand where all the hate is coming for this special. This was brilliant. Yes on the surface, haters gonna say it was only about the slap, but it was so much more. First it was actually LOL hilarious every damn minute, and give a very good take away about not being envious and trying to be your best you despite what you think is fair, cause sooner or later you'll realize you're in the best spot you should be.
On the other side, what Chris did in his special was a few chuckles and not address the issue in an appropriate way. Because it wasn't just about the black folks, it was a subject that he could've made a big deal of. About people being so offended about everything, and actually meaning something to balance out between keeping in check wrong doers, without harassing people that didn't deserve it. Anyways that ship had sailed.
Stand up should be funny and should say something, Chris's wasn't funny and while did try to say something, Marlon's special just killed it. Definitely worth the watch!
Better Call Saul: Breaking Bad (2022)
Renewed my IMDB, just to say how disappointed I am, and I am a huge fan
I almost never review anything, but after years invested in both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, even loving BCS more than BB, this last season is just terrible. So many missed opportunities, such a disappointment in the way Kim and Saul ended their relationship. Like this was supposed to hit him hard and to make the viewer water his eyes ..is that what you've been preparing all those years for???
The hope dies last, and I'm wishing I'm wrong and they make miracles for two episodes, but I just don't see it, I have to be realist.
But if you think I'm just hating out of thin air, hear me out:
Nacho's ending was great, that was the heaviness, that was supposed to be portrayed.
Lalo's ending - a lot of convenient stuff at the end, but it was kind a OK, given that Howard's demise was entwined with it. Rather absurd, but in a good (bad) way...
They did not serve justice to Kim's character - she changed gears too abruptly. Instead of making those last two empty episodes, they could've prolonged her "breaking bad" more slowly, while giving better ground for Saul to be more devastated and in return making this "ghostly" black and white living in the end more unbearable for him. So he would want to be caught, just so he might have the tiniest of chance of her visiting him. Actually that would've been good ending to the show - him in prison, while they tell him he have a visitor and some high heels just walking in, fade to black...
Meeting BB with BCS, should've been a one scene triumph of Saul's getting deep into limbo, just to get Kim off his mind, not just a nod to the fans, without any meaning..
Mother! (2017)
An art movie, that if you get it soon enough you'll enjoy..
SPOILERS ahead, that might actually make you enjoy the movie more -
At first I though the movie is about the bible, then as the movie progressed I though - ohh, that's planet Earth and what we're doing with it...again mixed with some biblical stuff.. but i looked at those things separately. Now when I further think about it's actually a very unique way to put the circular renovation of the Earth, within the biblical prophecies putting real events taking place now. It is like saying to all the religious people - ok, if you so much want the bible to be true, here's how it happened... the whole story ...and in the end ..because of you greed, consumerism, ideas (hell, ehm..) you put so much chaos on mother earth, that it will drown it self, burn itself (global warming,ehm..) in order to get rid of all those parasites (a.k.a. the Apocalypse) ...with this idea in mind I think the movie is a great thing to see, but neverthelss it's not easy one to watch.
