Days of Thunder (1990)
Good decent action/adventure film, despite errors and exaggeration.
In my opinion, Days Of Thunder is a pretty decent film; I have seen it many times. The only things that really made me like this film were the Days Of Thunder cars themselves and their outside exterior appearances (#46 City Chevrolet Lumina, #51 Exxon Chevrolet Lumina, #46 Superflo Chevrolet Lumina, #18 Hardee's Chevrolet Lumina, & #51 Mello Yello Chevrolet Lumina). All of these race cars (stock cars) were mainly the stars of the film. The plot was so and so, having either Rowdy Burns (Michael Rooker), or Russ Wheeler (Cary Elwes) bumping and rubbing the car of Cole Trickle (Tom Cruise) on the track for the win, and vice versa. In reality, NASCAR Winston Cup Officials would not tolerate that mess as they would penalize all of them for rough driving, thus suffering stiffer penalties in the sport itself. As for Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid, and the rest of the cast, they did okay in playing their characters in this film. Days Of Thunder is an exaggerated, fantasy version of NASCAR Winston Cup Racing. Not only that, the editing of Cole Trickle's car passing all those smoke-looking cars and going after either Rowdy Burns, or Russ Wheeler is horrible as well as the editing of real NASCAR races for the movie itself. In one scene, the cars are racing at Darlington. When they go to another scene, the cars are racing at Daytona. Days Of Thunder is pretty enjoyable good action/adventure film; it is basically all about the driven, hard-edged racing ego to win. My rating: 3 stars out of 5.
Top Gun (1986)
Cool Flick despite some drawbacks
SPOILER ALERT Top Gun is one of the best U.S. Navy films that I have seen from Tom Cruise despite having some fictitious exaggerations within an excellent storyline. Great effects, good directing by Tony Scott, awesome camera angles of the F-14 Tomcat flying, and great acting by the whole cast (Cruise, McGillis, Kilmer, Edwards, and many more). Although the film was made in 1986, Top Gun is still a modern film to me in this very day. It definitely brings entertainment and excitement.
However, one drawback of this film was when " Goose " (Anthony Edwards) died because of his head accidentally hitting the jet canopy while he and " Maverick " (Tom Cruise) ejected out of their spinning, jetwashed F-14. That was way too sad when " Goose " died due to major head injuries. If I was " Maverick ", I would feel the same way. It would defintely take some time to recover.
About the enemy aircraft in Top Gun, another drawback to this film is that I wished they used real Russian MiGS like the MiG-29 Fulcrum, MiG- 25 Foxbat, or some other MiGS instead of simulated black F-5 jets (MiG-28's) with Russian emblems painted on them. The film would look more realistic with the real MiGS around. I guess the film crew didn't have much budget for them.
Anyways, Top Gun is a pretty good film to watch whenever you're in a good mood for entertainment. Another positive thing about this film is that it has a good soundtrack with Kenny Loggins, Cheap Trick, and Berlin. I never get tired of listening to it, either.
Transufômâ: Maikuron densetsu (2002)
Crap and never ever will be as good as the original Transformer G1 1984 cartoon..
" Transformers: Armada " will never ever be as good as the original 1984 Transformers G1 cartoon. Armada is mostly targeted for little kids only. If I was a kid that was never exposed to Transformers at all, maybe I would have liked it. However, since I grew up with the original G1 cartoon in the 1980's, I do like it better than Armada. Every time Armada comes on Cartoon Network, I just tend to pop in any episode of either Transformers G1: Season 1, or Transformers G1: Season 2 (Part 1) in place of Armada on my DVD player. Before that, the first time I watched it (Armada) on Cartoon Network, I just threw up. I could not stand watching Armada anymore. So I just pretend that the original Transformers 1984 G1 Cartoon is on Cartoon Network. Sure Armada looks better in the drawings. On the other hand, Transformers G1 got better characters, better voice talent, better storylines, and a better musical score. Besides the Autobots in Transformers G1, even the Decepticons in Transformers G1 are ten times better than the ones in Armada. Marvel and Sunbow did a great job in my opinion; Transformers G1 (1984) will always be an all-time cartoon classic. Another thing is that Spike, Carly, and Sparkplug in Transformers G1 are not irritating unlike those 3 kids in Armada. Transformers: Armada just absolutely sucks like Transformers: Robots In Disguise. Nothing will ever beat the original.
Transformers (1984)
The greatest cartoon of all-time. Often imitated, never duplicated.
Transformers (1984) is the greatest cartoon of all-time. No doubt about that. It is an A ++ in my book and #1. Besides of never getting tired of the toys, I never get tired of watching it on DVD. Other than excellent storylines, humor, and a good musical score, this cartoon had the best voice talent there is. For example, you had Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime, Ironhide), Frank Welker (Megatron, Soundwave), Casey Kasem (Bluestreak, Cliffjumper), Gregg Berger (Skyfire, Grimlock), Chris Latta (Starscream, Wheeljack), Don Messick (Gears, Ratchet), Scatman Crothers (Jazz), John Stephenson (Huffer, Thundercracker), and many more. The list goes on and on and etc.. Transformers G1 is an all-time classic done by Marvel and Sunbow. No other Transformer series, such as Armada and Robots In Disguise, will ever beat the original.
