Friday the 13th (1989)
Great game...would have been better with orignal concept
This is a great game, one of the hardest the NES had. It took me a long time to beat it and Jason's random pop-up's were cool and it had good music, good controls, and it was an overall challenging and fun game. But...the original concept of the game would have been 100 times cooler. Originally you would be able to play as either the counselors or Jason! I would have loved to go around hacking up peeps Jason Voorhees style, that would have ruled! The only complaint I had was this, those damn counselors sure did look happy to be at camp blood don't you think. The ending could have been better too, but oh well.
The Punisher (1989)
Very Disappointed
The Punisher has been one of my favorite comic book characters since I first read it. I love the story and I love the characters. Frank Castle, an average guy who becomes a not so loveable hero. He's no superman, he's no Spiderman, and he has no super powers. He is just a guy, a normal guy. Castle is a good shot, that's the extent of his powers, nothing more. But he becomes a "hero" in the worst way! His family gunned down for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He fights crime by doing what he knows best, killing the guilty. It's a great idea, but the movie really let me down. I hoped it would follow the comic closely, it would show Frank's personal struggle, his demons...it didn't. Hell it didn't even put the trademark skull on the chest. It was just Dolph blowing things up...it wasn't even really the Punisher to me...I hope now that Marvel is throwing out new movies they go back to the drawing board with this one and make a real Punisher movie, one that captures the comic book story.
Eight Crazy Nights (2002)
Not a masterpiece, but not bad
I didn't really think this was that bad of a movie, I mean it's not the godfather or anything, and it's not Adam Sandler's best flick, but it's got moments where it's quite funny and touching. Yes, it's sophomoric, but come on, that's what Adam was shooting for. Frankly I'm glad to see a Christmas movie that's different from the rest.
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
One of the worse movies ever!
This movie reassured me of the fact that, people are sheep! This movie is god awful, it has no story and the acting is so bad! It's not exciting in the least. There is no pacing; there is no atmosphere, nothing. I watched this movie with an ex-girlfriend and listened to her go on and on about how "hot Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are" and "isn't that car so cool, wow there going fast..." blah blah blah. I'm sorry, I guess having taste means that movies that have "cool cars" and "hot guys" or in my case "hot girls" are just not enjoyable. Yet, this movie made a lot of money and there even making a sequel. Being a young actor/film maker in drama school, I guess maybe I'll write a script about big shiny things and explosions and it will out gross Titanc. All I need is Vin Diesel to star now...oh and I guess what was really funny was when my drama teacher showed this movie as how NOT to act and make a movie...that was the most enjoyable part to this rubbish. Save your money, and your brain cells.
The Others (2001)
Kinda predictable, but still good.
I figured out the ending about 5 minutes into the movie, but none the less it was quite enjoyable. Probably (other than Moulin Rouge) Nicole Kidman's best performance to date. I was very impressed by this movies atmosphire. I give it a 8 out of 10.
Liar Liar (1997)
One of Carrey's best...
As an actor who thrives on prate falls and slapstick comedy, I commend Carrey for raising the bar for me in this film. I love this movie, it's not Jim's funnies(That would be Dumb and Dumber) or his best performance (either in Batman Forever or The Truman Show) the bathroom scene makes it for me. I loved this movie, I thought the story was very good and it show's off Carrey's comedic timing and ability. I have it a 7, not going to set the world on fire, but will make you laugh.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
The best sequel ever, maybe...
I firmly believe that this is THE best sequel ever. Yes, the godfather part 2 is amazing, but it is kind of a prequel if you think about it. I've loved T2 since I was like 9, it's a great film and it changed the way we thought about special effect. Oh, and that year only Silence of the Lambs had more Oscars...only 1 more Oscar to be exact. What does that tell you? Great movies start to end. 10 out of 10.
The Terminator (1984)
Awsome movie
I think that sometimes, true genius is overlooked...for instance, James Cameron is associated most with Titanic, however this and T2 are my favorite movies of his. Not to say that this movie is overlooked, because it's not, it's just not recognized as much as it should be. Just about every sci-fi thriller in that last 10 years or so owes something to this movie. It's an amazing movie to watch and take in, it's no wonder why this movie should and will go down as one of the best ever made. It's a great movie...9 out of 10
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Perhaps the best movie ever.
Maybe I'm a little biased, I love J.R.R. Tolkien, I loved the Lord Of The Rings Books, I've read them several times, and going into this movie I had HIGH expectations. I seriously expected a movie unlike any other, that was beautiful, and poetic, and a true work of art, a motion picture masterpiece if you will...I wasn't disappointed. I went opening day twice just to make sure I didn't miss anything and I have since seen the movie almost 30 times, I love this movie. It isn't exactly like the book, it is, however, Peter Jackson's vision of Middle Earth, and it is a great vision indeed. Hobbiton, Rivendale, The Mines Of Moria, they are all beautiful, Ian McKellan is a perfect Gandaulf, in fact the whole cast is amazing, this is what a movie should be. In my opinion, this IS the greatest film ever made, regardless of what anyone says...I am eagerly anticipating, The Two Towers in just a few months.
"I find your lack of faith disturbing."
Evil Dead II (1987)
One of the funniest, goriest movies ever!
I love this movie, it's violent, it's funny, it's a great movie to watch with your friends and make fun of. I love Sam Raimi, I love Bruce Campbell, and the scene with the hand is so f****n awsome . I highly recomend this movie, not so scary, but very funny.
