Happy Accidents (2000)
a quirky fantastic film a must see
i thought i'd add another great review among the many that are here on IMDb. first off the acting was very superb by Vincent D'Onofrio and Marisa Tomei. after about twenty minutes of seeing them acting together just sucked me in completely on this quirky but, fun romantic comedy/science fiction (romcom/scifi) film. their acting styles complimented each other so well and the chemistry was just mixed well in the film worlds laboratory (whether it was due to well editing or the actor/actress themselves). second this movie just kept me on a roller-coaster of a ride once i thought i had it figured out i was completely thrown for a loop back into the wacky roller-coaster design like that of the space traveling story that Sam gives and Ruby is just in the front seat of it all, as are we, the audience. i chose this movie based on it being a recommendation through amazon and thought "what they hey! i'll get it." so i ordered it and have not been disappointed by my decision of getting it. this movie is a must have for any movie goers collection and to see with friends, family, or that special someone. trust me you won't regret it.
Lord of the Dance (1997)
still to this day i am enthralled by this!
i remember when i was a kid watching Riverdance on VHS and becoming more deeply in love with my Irish heritage that my parents got tickets to see Lord of the Dance live! Unfortunately, Michael Flately wasn't performing it was somebody else. Getting over the disappointment I still was amazed at how well it was choreographed. My parents decided to buy the VHS so i could see Michael in action as well as the CD for musical score. I became obsessed with it. So obsessed I saw it a second time live (when i was about in middle school no Michael though) when it came to my area and was still entranced with the whole performance. i for one love the musical arrangement of the pieces and the colors. though, at times the editing of the segments was slightly choppy its still forgivable due to the wonderful talent displayed. today for the first time in a long time after finding the VHS i watched it and was still entranced by this lovely, amazing performance that i wouldn't mind seeing it live even if Michael is not the staring lead tap. the costumes are even fantastic very untraditional which, is OK. i will constantly watch this over and over and over and over again as well as listen to the soundtrack over and over again. 10 all the way!
Leap Year (2010)
a very cute and charming movie
the reason for 10 out of 10 one: i love irish men, two: irish love stories, and three: have irish blood flowing through me due to heritage. amy adams is a very good actress...she is cute, charming, and has this sense of innocence about her which works in this industry. matthew goode, to me, exudes sexiness and quirkiness which is something that i like. i loved the story line even if it may have been formulatic it gave me a chance to break away from the harsh bitter cold that i was desperately trying to forget so this was the best movie to take my mind off things movie. there were some really good twists but yet predictable which i did not mind. the settings were absolute gorgeous and showed what rural ireland looks like or what has lead me to believe rural irish is supposed to be like. what i got out of this is to keep an open heart and open mind about love because love is out there (which may seem cheesy but, i still look for that love out there). i would definitely see it again on a rainy, cold, or any other day to take my mind off of reality, which thats what movies are meant to do...movies are not meant to be about digesting its meant to be ingesting and thats what this movie did, Leap Year gave me the best ingesting like a secret indulgence (chocolate, cake, brownie, cookie, etc) away from the craziness life has thrown at us. if you need that break from reality go watch this.....i loved it. 10 out of 10.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009)
a sizzling hot mess
i went to the midnight premiere of this movie. i am an avid vampire fan and a closeted werewolf lover so it was like cheesecake swirl for me. i have read the books so i new to suspend my acute awareness of the mistakes or choosing to cut or add things that weren't in the book. seriously bella going off and riding with that older man please. i will have to say the special effects have gotten way better than the first movie, editing i think has improved some. the soundtrack egh not so much but, the score is still hauntingly beautiful. the acting is so-so for some but, others have definitely improved. charlie, edward, jacob, and some others improved while the rest are just OK or have just remained the constant i.e. bella she is so rigid in the acting and some of the high school friends still had that same flat acting they did in the first film. a plus though is seeing some really, really hot men. abs and pecs ladies abs and pecs. this is what boosted my rating of the film lol. the new actors did well because some of them are seasoned actresses/actors. jane (dakota fanning) did really well. i would definitely be afraid to come across her. in all words go see it in theaters it's most definitely worth watching for that $8 ticket especially for that oh so delectable eye candy.
Playing for Keeps (2009)
really love has no color
i saw this last night it was heart warming tear jerking type of movie. how a woman, Nicole, a basketball groupie who has an affair with Ty, the big basketball hero to the many eyes of people. when she finds out she is pregnant and tells Ty but, to Ty this pregnancy does not fit well into his star-lit life. Then after Nicole gives birth to the baby, Noah, Ty becomes very interested in the child. Ty goes to great lengths to gain sole custody of Noah. The reason for this is that Noah is a mixed child half white half black. Ty believes that Nicole wouldn't be able to help Noah because he looks more like him black. During the custody battle to gain Noah, Nicole loses this jerk of a lawyer because she does an interview and due to that his lawyer reputation of not being able to handle a lost of the case. Nicole tries to call several lawyers but no lawyer wants to take the case. She then goes into a restaurant where there are a bunch of lawyers she stands up on a chair and makes a plea to any of the lawyers that would want to help her until a relative unknown lawyer, Doug Savant's character, who is looking to help further his career decides to take case pro bono. She agrees to work with this lawyer who helps to bring the case all the way to the supreme court which the courts sets a precedent and gives Nicole sole custody of Noah. This movie shows that no matter what ethnic background love prevails, as well as, a heart to fight for somebody you love. a great movie.
My Own Worst Enemy (2008)
best new show to hit TV
I absolutely love watching this show every time it comes on Monday. This show gives me a break from reality which is a plus. I love how Edward/Henry go from one to another you never know what time Edward goes from Henry and vice versa, whether it be when Edward is on a mission and it risked exposing him that he is flawed from the design the company has when he is partnered up with a female agent or when Henry is with his family and Edward has to try to play the affectionate husband(by the way which helped save Henry's marriage). Both help out each other in some manner or other. Truly an enjoyable show to watch I just hope it pulls through to becoming one of TVs greatest shows.
Twilight (2008)
enjoyable yet not
OK i went in not expecting anything so i think that helped with my viewing pleasure of the movie. the bad.... 1. the movie has added things that weren't even in the book which is OK by me and not at the same time 2. some of the actors and actresses they chose to play the characters in the movie i thought were the wrong choices for them to begin with. 3. at some points i felt like i was watching a college produced film which made it seem so cheesy. the good.... 1. at some points where really good and well thought out and directed and acted which didn't spoil my mood with the film 2. they did have some scenes which came directly from the book and stayed with it. 3. there is this little bitty surprise in the movie you just have to catch it while watching. it's nothing major or anything only minor.
my rate of the whole movie is 7.5/10. it should've been made better than this way better than this all the way. i hope my review helps if any.
