Vatican Girl: The Disappearance of Emanuela Orlandi (2022)
Heartbreaking and frustrating story
Everyone who gave this a low score completely missed the whole point of the documentary. Someone said all it did was present conspiracy theories with no end. Well, duh, that's quite literally the whole idea.
Emanuela's case has been shrouded in mystery from the beginning and the family has been constantly led on to believe and follow various theories that would only bring in further questions and more heartache.
As viewers, we were also led on by everyone presenting their theories, only to be kept in a perpetual state of frustration and, in the end, to feel that same anguish the family goes through daily. On that note, the scenes that included the mother absolutely destroyed me. I can't even begin to think how painful it must be to process such loss and such injustice.
Sure, it could've been shorter or, better yet, include more interesting details (for example, why isn't Sabrina Minardi in prison since she literally confessed to being an accomplice?!) instead of replaying the same unnecessary scenes that had nothing to do with the story.
From Scratch (2022)
Baffled by the positive reviews. Unbearable show
I kept seeing promo videos for this show and all the comments were extremely positive, so I figured I'd give it a go. My expectations were not necessarily high, but I assumed it's a light, romantic show. Seriously, it's AWFUL. Cheesy, badlyyyy written, the main characters are one dimensional and the chemistry that supposedly led them to their love story was nonexistent. I found no reason to root for them. They sort of just get together and the other guy in her life is deemed as a "bad" one just because he's rich? The dialogue is so very cringey and even the aesthetics and the fashion are way off. I didn't even realize this is supposed to be set in the 90s until I noticed they kept calling each other on their home phones. I mean, Zoe Saldana is wearing Free People and Reformation dresses :face palm:. This show made me mad, and I turned it off mid-episode 2.
