Shit (2011)
This film is ****
The title of this film is ****. Therefore it is ****. Not much else to say really... what's also **** is how I can't mention the title of the film I'm reviewing on IMDb without it being censored. We know the title is ****, every time you see these bloody asterisks you know the word is ****. Hence by seeing asterisks you have seen the word **** as if it were written out in full. So tell me, what exactly has censorship achieved here? A big fat nothing. As for the film, it's not bad. The title is **** but other than that it's OK. I'd give it 1 out of 10. That's pretty much everything I have to say about the title of the film, I think I've talked about the issues in sufficient detail yet I'm still typing, why? Because aside from it's arbitrary and nonsensical censorship policy, IMDb also requires all reviews to be 10 lines minimum. Another **** rule if you ask me seeing as 5 lines is sufficient for a short review. Oh and no prizes for guessing what the asterisks spell out... that's right, the redundancy of censorship beautifully demonstrated yet again.
F-Word (2003)
****ing great
**** is a great film. It explores the past and present of the word **** which is ****ing great! Ironically due to IMDb censorship you will probably have no idea what film I am reviewing (except you would seeing as the title isn't be bleeped out on the listing, we just can't write it out when discussing it). This just goes to show how nonsensical and arbitrary our reaction to "curse words" can be. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with the word **** anymore than other synonyms such as sex, fornication and intercourse. Yet there is no outright ban of these words on IMDb thus implying "curse words" have a quality that transcends their meaning. Words should not be considered offencive regardless of their context, that defeats the purpose of language as a recognisable code amongst a group of people. It gives the impression that words wield some kind of metaphysical power which is stupid... whatever like anybody's reading this anyway, time for another joint. P.S. I haven't actually seen this film but I'm sure it's ****king wonderful.
