The Dark Knight (2008)
great film ,but get rid of Bale!!!
OK ....i liked this film for what it was ...an entertaining movie about the ever existent batman.....
i commend ledger ,eckhart and gylenhaal on their glowing performances .....and finally see what all the hype was about ....but sadly i do still feel the hype made me feel slightly let down
the film seemed a little too long ,drawn out unnecessarily for glitz rather than true plot at times -note i watch longer films than this but it was slow in parts unnecessarily to me
and sadly i don't think i will be ever able to view Bale as a serious batman ....he is fine as playboy wayne ...but as the bat he irritates me severely....he puts on his persona too much and creates a pathetically deep "i'm batman" voice thinking its enjoyable ....sorry Bale change it buddy its woeful .....but hey no one has ever matched keaton as batman to me
The Strangers (2008)
i love this movie
despite many people saying ill of this film ....and many friends arguing its flaws with me ...i don't care ....i loved the strangers.
the film is witty in an unusual way ....it does not fight conventional thought! most films of the new millennium are about finding that twist that makes the story original or thought provoking ....such as the sixth sense ,the village ,saw ,etc...
the strangers though doesn't use this -ever growing annoying-tactic....it may seem slow at times and rather predictable but that is all part of its charm ....it plays out like a realistic telling of events in a 80s horror film atmosphere.
i think because it didn't fight to be different is why it appealed so much to me ....it reminded me of the slick horror films of my childhood ...and not their current big budget remakes -think prom night, halloween , when a stranger calls ,the omen ,etc...all terrible remakes! i recommend lovers of a classic seeing this film ,watch and enjoy its simplicity and thank heaven some people don't get caught up in the bs of Hollywood !
Bloody Sunday (2002)
powerful !! must see movie
having been born in England and never truly understood or been taught the full story of Ireland and England's long lasting disputes -having been raised in Australia since i was 8 and born in the 80s,after this event occurred-i watched this film to gain a solid understanding of why i came from a town thats so heavily attacked by the I.R.A -Birmingham... what i felt when i finished this film shocked me ........ i am a huge horror fan ,so the idea of me crying as i watch a film is very rare -i think three films other than this one have succeeded in my 28yrs of life- but when i ended my viewing of "bloody Sunday", i was still wiping my eyes . it is a very powerful ,well recreated retelling of the Bloody Sunday massacre and James Nesbitt was absolutely astounding and his final speech brought me to tears as i wondered why this had to occur at all .....i say this film is a must see for everyone -just like films like Hotel Rwanda , American History X ,or This is England
Dracula 3000 (2004)
a truly awful film
Okay so i rented this movie ages ago and figured i would watch it without casting any judgment. No one i know ,had seen it. Big error on my part ,as i soon learned. We were introduced to some promising characters and concepts ,dracula in space ,coffins filled with dust ,and a rather eclectic crew . I was happy to see some familiar faces among the crew members and figured i'd let it keep playing on and sadly i must report my massive disappointment ! This film was no less cheesy or badly created than Ed Wood's monster flop Plan Nine From Outer Space It was terrible ,total BS ,and with each second i laughed at the film ,not with it , i realized it must have been created by someone lacking any intelligence what so ever .Coolio was a cast member i was happy to watch ,as i had grown up with some of his music and thought he was an interesting choice, how wrong i was again? If anything a monkey could've done the job more impressively . This truly is a F grade film ,as i have seen better student films created in ten minutes than this pile of dung .This concept is not original either .Horror in a science fiction realm ? Does no one remember? Jason Voorhies or Leprechaun heading for the wide world beyond our universe? Those movies ,although funny, were also terrible ,yet someone still made this film ? For anyone considering watching this film ,i suggest getting your finger and poking yourself in the eye for about 90minutes ,it'd be more enjoyable.
Savage Messiah (2002)
Savage Messiah , great film.
Oh my god!!! I bought a DVD of this film cos it was on special and i am a fan of true crime /cult stories .As most of the big ones ,like ....heavens gate ,Jim Jones ,waco Texas ,etc...happened prior to my leaving high school. I have to say i was horrified with what this man had seemed to be allowed to get away with and decided to look him up and find out some more info.
Now i am grateful the film was quite tame in comparison to some of his antics.....he was an awful man .....who manipulated people he was supposed to love ,like a common trashy spouse who abuses their partner.
This film was a remarkably well filmed ,well directed piece of film and my hat has to go off at Luc Picard for his portrayal of "moses".....he made me get chills in some scenes . In particular the bar scene with the backache...ugh!...i will not divulge further for risk of entering a spoiler]. I urge all true crime /cult researchers like myself to watch this film as it was a rather gritty and well told story of a very sick individual .
And as always ....it left me wondering how some people can let someone con them so blindly and treat them so badly ? How can someone be so desperate to be loved ....to take what he dished out ?? God doesn't condone these acts !
