Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008)
Its sad...its better than the live action versions
For an all CG, sorta on the fence of the uncanny valley movie, its way way better than the last 2 resident evil movies that came out here in the states. CG wise it's no Final Fantasy or Pixar film, but honestly, story wise and even the acting in the voice overs come off as more natural than the last 2 movies in the American Franchise. Its a shame. Capcom should have done the movies themselves to begin with instead of giving it to Anderson. Just to repeat myself...the voice acting on this movie is really surprisingly well acted. And there are really some gruesome and scary parts in it. I'm no fan boy, far from it, but future animation film producers need to take note on how seriously these filmmakers took the "acting" on this movie.

This movie from a Christian perspective
I love Korean films because they have the ability to really (quiet eerily really) capture real life. I tend to watch Korean movies just for that reason alone. I've seen this directors other movies before. The one that comes closest to the feelings I got from this is Oasis and another awesome film called This Charming Girl.
However, my title summary is supposed to be from a Chrstian perspective so I'll just start doing that instead of just showering it with praise.
For a non Christian perspective Director Chang-dong Lee has captured an unbiased and almost eerily real portrayal of a modern Protestant church (regardless of denomination) warts and all. I've always been waiting for a Christian film that truly portrays the darker recesses of church life. Because Christian films tend to speak in a language that is different to those they want to share their faith to. Many films with religious undertones, though having good motives, tend to just have the resonance of a Disney film or after school special. They need to show life as it is. Real people curse, real people lust, real people fall. And though Christians believe that salvation is available to those that seek it, we are still challenged by the everyday horrors of this life. And Do-yeon Jeon's character is a totally honest and almost brutal portrayal of a woman that found God, but because of life's bitter realities, loses that love for Him she once had. She doesn't deny God exists. It is just that she refuses to accept to live with the idea that He is an all loving and forgiving God.
In her decent to the edges of morality and madness, her character asks questions that are in the mind of every one, religious or not.
"If God is Love, why does He allow such terrible things to happen?" This film doesn't answer that, rightly so. And I believe the last 10 minutes of the film, though open to interpretation, leaves us with a hopeful future for our main character and brings the idea of "secret sunshine" full circle.
I don't believe for a second that this film tried to be religious or had in any way tried and set out to be that. There in lies the reason why it worked even more. It's real, it's honest. And because of that, it is by far the best summation of a real Christian life I have seen on film.
Gwoemul (2006)
What stays with you is not only the monster...but the pictures of Family
How many of us can say that after watching a horror movie..they felt like going to their parents or their siblings and saying you love them. I think the greatest thing this movie has going for it is not the CGI or the truly scary moments (which it has tons of) but its ability to solicit emotions you wouldn't expect. I think I love this movie alone just for the scene where the family eats together inside the storage shack. Are they all "seeing" the little girl as they eat? I don't really care..because this director captures with no dialogue just how much a family loves one another although they may be very dysfunctional. How many horror remakes and girls in white movies can do that? Hear that? thats every producer in Hollywood thinking if Dakota Fanning would like to play the little girl....thats just sad.
Silent Hill (2006)
Pajiba gets it and they usually don't.
*WARNING* MIGHT HAVE SPOILERS BUT NOT SURE ---ITS A REVIEW
I wanted to put what Pajiba said. And for the first time, a reviewer (good or not good) got this movie right.

I don't care if you flame or wot not. But yeah, this movie was good..best adaptation of a game and probably the weirdest thing to come out this decade that doesn't require me to download a .sub file for Japanese or korean.

Give them a Break the MOVIE ROCKS!
Let us never forget that a movie is supposed to entertain peopl. I'm really tired of people who tend to forget that and make some sort of big fraudian psycho babble thing out of anything. I bet some people out there probably looked at the Oddysian message of Pokemon the movie.
So let's not forget that this movie is a movie...it's not real and its not going to make any significance to the world in any way. It may just give a bunch of teens that snuck in to watch it the heebee geebees and a fear of televisions for a while. Man, dont even start thinking about how you'll never look at a closet, tape, or tv the same way again. This movie was that scary! I believe it actually was a great translation from the original. To be able to make a film that was in another language into one that Americans will actually be talking about for a long time (they will too) is really a hard thing to do.
I saw a test screening of it and I believe that they should not change a thing...forget about the negative remarks or any suggestions on changing the ending. This version is the closest you'll ever get to the utter dread and sheer horror of the japanese original.
Watch this movie with someone you love...because they'll be the only one to understand why you're screaming like a newlymade castrato.
