Law & Order: Criminal Intent: Frame (2008)
Save the BEST for last!!
This is hands-down, the best of the Goren series! A truly haunting look inside the mind of our favorite Dective--FINALLY revealing to us the psychological and moral influences that have driven Goren into his unique personality.
We've watched our hero in action--NOW we know the power and mindset that drives his subconscious. Goren had finally grasped and learned to cope with his Mom's schitzophernia and passing. This episode takes society's worst nightmare of a criminal and blasts Goren with a horrific truth.
Could any of us...ever recover from such a blow, and EVER do detective work again?? I couldn't.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent: Siren Call (2006)
One of Goren's pivotal episodes
In a great variety of challenging and impressive situations that Goren has found himself, this episode is one of those few that shows us a deeper side of his complexity.
I see Goren as a Master of his domain, who almost calmly seems to proceed through his cases. In Siren Call with the threat of his own death, we see the truly panicked, desperate side. The twist ending even further reinforces Goren's sense of "collapse"--both with himself and his assignment.
This episode is as dynamic as the Nichole Wallace shows, and ranks nearly as high as the Roy Shreider episode of Endgame.
