A Fine State This Is (2003)
Wow!
I agree that this film, A Fine State This Is, is amazing. It was sold out at the LA film festival, then won the Grand Jury prize at the Outfest film festival. I saw it both times. Why isn't this on DVD? Why aren't more people able to see it? The young director, Jessica Chandler, is so talented and this unique story is quite moving in so many ways. Also, the main character draws you in. What you think she is about at first changes as you get into the story. I don't want to give it away if people are able to get a hold of this film. The best thing is that this is a documentary and so it's all completely true and real. I was introduced to both the director and main character at the LA film festival. Also, the director is a very aware and energetic young woman, who did a wonderful job. I heard she spent two years with the main character, Debra Whitman. Someone told me to ask one of the major agencies in Hollywood who has the film. I may do that.
