Phish 3D (2010)
A must-see for Phans!
Never have I seen Phish as big as they were on the silver screen! A 3D concert movie makes you feel like you are really there, more so than a 3D movie can. Of course, I would much rather be in the audience, but it felt like I had an on-stage pass. I really hope this initiates more 3D concert movies. I'm so glad they started off with PHISH! The set list isn't the most exciting, but the acoustic set is really really awesome! I definitely feel like I've seen a part of Phish I've never been able to experience before. Some of the best parts were when the camera would zoom over the crowd, and you get to see all the interesting people. Don't miss the opportunity to see it at the movies. I would much rather give my money to see this concert than a movie.I recommend sitting up close! Have fun Phishin' in theaters!
Quantum of Solace (2008)
A Bond movie without gadgets!?!?!?
This Bond movie may be filled with action, but it's not the Bond we are use to. The villain is a weak, witty man with no unique characteristics or abilities. The villains main henchman is a dude with a ridiculous hair cut who does nothing but trips down a set or stairs and gets blown up. I thought there was gonna be something special about the henchman the whole time, but no. It's a Bond movie....where are the gadgets?? It's what Bond has been about from the beginning. Nobody to step up to Q's position? Lose the gadgets, lose James Bond. When people go to a Bond movie, they expect to be entertained and forced to say "no way could that ever happen". they don't expect to see what a real-life Bond would do. I regretted the 8 bucks i spent on this one.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Batman and America
After seeing the film for the third time this evening, I've came to a solid conclusion. Most of the movies that we consider the best of all time contain a good amount of inner symbology. The Dark Knight not only has the simple symbol of the bat, but a plot that, to me, can easily be taken in as symbolizing the current America/Middle East situation. Joker of course being the terrorist, holding his own twisted beliefs on planning and chaos. Batman, meanwhile, representing the American government along with Harvey Dent. Most Americans don't agree with America's status in its war against terror and especially the PATRIOT ACT. Hmm....perhaps Batman using every cell phone within Gotham as a too to spot the Joker symbolizes the PATRIOT ACT and its infringement on our privacy???
Most people didn't believe Batman was doing the right thing, however, he could indeed make the choice no other man could make as Alfred put it. This could easily symbolize our American Government and their great power and struggle to deal with the average Americans' feelings and beliefs. Batman indeed felt that he was doing the thing that would do the greatest amount of good for the greatest amount of people. However, it's clear in The Dark Knight that Batman is doing the right thing. But me being the liberal I am, I can't say I believe in what our government is doing....I would be interested to hear what the Nolan bros would have to say about this symbolism theory.
