The X Files: Closure (2000)
Walkins and Starlight
The theories of the "Walkins" and "Starlight" was first discussed in the season 2 episode Red Museum. Yet, here agents Mulder and Scully behave as if they are hearing it for the first time. When in fact, in Red Museum, it was the basis of the religious group's belief so they spent a good amount of time discussing the theory. The topic comes up again in Season 8 episode Within, when Scully relates to Skinner that she and Mulder once had a conversation about Starlight. I guess the writers wanted the agents to have a reason to branch off on a different investigative routes, so they pretended the "Walkins" and "Starlight" theories were new ideas.
The X Files: Red Museum (1994)
Episode tie-in with Season 7 episode 11 inconsistency
Upon rewatching this episode, I am reminded of the discussion Mulder has with Scully about the "Walk-ins" while eating BBQ. The group in this episode have the belief that they are seeking to reach a certain enlightenment to become second souls. Or, something like that. However, in season seven episode 11 entitled Closure, which Chris Carter also wrote, he first treats the theme of "walk-ins" as a new idea. Second, pretends, that Mulder and Scully never had the conversation in The Red Museum. Instead, it simply serves to separate the characters and send them in different investigative pursuits.
The X Files: The Gift (2001)
Gift and Within related storylines
I'm a bit confused by the related storylines between Gift and Within. In Gift, Dockett told Skinner that Scully signed the false reports Mulder turned submitted. Did she simply sign the reports without reading them? I doubt it. Yet, in the episode Within, Scully seemed unaware that Mulder was dying. That wouldnt seem plausible if she was aware of him going to see the disease eater. She believed him to be okay after CSMs surgery. Third, In Gethsemane, Murder stated he wouldn't ever ask Scully to lie except to those who had lied to them. Finally, Mulder would never have lied to Scully for over a year about his dying. He cared to much for her to do that. Points decreased for storyline, but increased for Pileggi being in episode and always giving a strong performance.
