Sixth and Main (1977)
Life on the streets
An emotional drama about life on the streets and a social class that makes us look at who these homeless people really are.
Leslie Nielsons portrayal of "John Doe" the mysterious homeless man with a past that is uncovered as the story evolves takes us to meet various street friends and on the way understand the true humanity of people in every walk of life.
Fearless (1999)
Relax mate, it's only a movie
Just finished watching this movie and taking in mind the fact that I
started watching it at 5:00a.m. it gives you a pretty good clue that
there was really nothing on T.V. but this seemed interesting
enough. If you get passed the small stories within the stories you
might find it entertaining enough. Centered around a stunt gone
wrong and a need to get away from it all, our "hero" escapes to
New Zealand for a much needed break form it all. Small
adventures evolve and our hero and has newly found selves find
themselves in one adventure after another. Not: If for nothing else, watch the movie to see Zoe Naylor, you'll
thank me later.
Mauvaises fréquentations (1999)
A movie that transcends all languages
I for one one know how to say anything in French other that "yes","yes sir","excuse me" and other sorted words/comments which wouldn't get me out of the French airport; but there's something about this movie as all good foreign films that made me fluent in the French language I was immediately wrapped up in the world of these two girls who fall for their boyfriends but despite the fact that their plan to leave all together comes down to the girls degrading themselves into the world of prostitution where the are subsequently seen as outcasts by their friends and classmates and seen as no more then whores by the boys who "use their services" the girls learn the hard way that not everything is the way it seems. In the end I feel sad for the loss of true love due to the circumstances by way of the only boy which really did love her in his own naive way but could not get the same love back from a girl who's hart was stolen by someone else who in the end would betray her trust. In the world we live in now growing pains are much more common by the ways perfectly portrayed in this film and in this ever changing world we could all learn something from the mistakes of these two girls but never the less this kind of life story is one better experienced personally.
Desert Blue (1998)
Simple entertainment at it's best.
I just finished seeing Desert Blue for the first time and my first impressions for this movie are good. I liked this movie for it's simplicity and well written monologues which entangle you in it's story line enough to take you through the entire movie. It's young cast is good enough to portray somewhat lost teenagers in what would be best described as "small town U.S.A." All except for the sometimes over played, but not this time, "kid star/rich girl" portrayed by Kate Hudson. I did though have a problem with the way the movie develops as it seems to leave as hanging awaiting for a "ad they lived happily ever after" tag Line but then again I guess that was implied in the movie itself. I'd definitely recommend it. I just finished watching it and I can't wait to see it again.
