8 Simple Rules (2002–2005)
10/10
I <3 this show so much!!!!
17 September 2006
Sadly, 8 Simple Rules, for dating my teenage daughter, was the last sitcom that John Ritter got to work on after his tragic death in 2003. He was one of my all time favourite actors. He had it all, comedy (who can forget him in Three's Company) but he was also an excellent dramatic actor (Unforgivable – worth watching TV movie) As much I loved all the other cast members of the show (Katey, Amy, Kaley and Martin) John was THE star, he was much of the reason I was drawn to the show in the first place, and it was his perfect comedic delivery that was able to crack me up each and every time.

I loved how the show wasn't all sugary sweet (as much as I loved The Cosby Show, come on, they were too nice to each other lol) they portrayed the typical family dynamics brilliantly. It was realistic enough what with all the sibling rivalry and the squabbles between parents, but they still kept it funny. A lot of American sitcoms try and fill the shows entirely with morals and what not, and this show didn't do that. Yes, there were some, like tackling important issues, such as drugs and bullying, but they didn't try and be anything other than a fun family comedy.

The way they wrote John's death in to the show was brilliantly done, I still sob like a baby each time I see it. You could feel how raw the emotions were during those incredibly hard episodes.

I'm sad the show was cancelled, I still enjoy watching the reruns, and I never get tired of it.

John Ritter, you'll always be remembered for you hilarious depiction of this over protective father, who would rather lock his daughters up in their room than have them date a boy =) You rock Ritter!!!

Unforgivable (1996 TV Movie)
10/10
The best TV movie I have ever seen!!! *slight spoiler*
17 September 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Unforgivable is about a young girl who witnesses her father, Paul (John Ritter), beating her mother. Paul escapes to the home of his mistress (Beth) where she too suffers physical abuse at his hands. Beth threatens Paul by telling him that if he doesn't get himself help and join a group for abusive men, she will file attempted murder charges against him. Now, I am a MASSIVE John Ritter fan, I think he was one of the finest actors of our time, and I could tell how in to the movie I was, I actually hated him in it. He portrayed Paul to be this raging lunatic, and was incredibly believable in the part (as were all the other members of the cast)

This story was a really effective movie; it shows you just how much damage one person can do to an entire family. Like someone has said in a previous review, this was a true story, and it was amazingly brave and honest of the real Paul Hegstrom to admit to the world what he had put his family through many years ago, his family should be very proud of how far he has come.

It's so sad to believe there are many people living lives just like Paul and Judy, and this mustn't be ignored whilst watching the movie.

It has to be one of, it not the best TV movies I have ever seen and I highly recommend it!

Weird and wonderful
4 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
He Sees You When You're Sleeping is one of several Mary Higgins Clark adaptations; it stars Erika Eleniak, Cameron Bancroft and Greg Evigan.

***May Contain Spoilers***

This TV movie is about this self-centred, selfish superficial stockbroker Sterling Brooks (Cameron Bancroft) who dies before his time in some random freak accident. In order to secure himself a place in heaven, Sterling is given the opportunity to redeem himself by helping out single mom Annie Campbell (Erika Eleniak) and her daughter Marissa, who are in the witness protection program, from nasty mobsters who will stop at nothing - including murder - to prevent Annie from testifying against them.

Like most TV movies, it was a little on the cheesy side, but that is something I really enjoy. It's nice to sit down and watch something you know isn't real, but maybe, just maybe it COULD happen!

Although the movie had somewhat strange and silly ideas about the afterlife and what not, I found that quite charming in a weird and wonderful sort of way.

The only thing I didn't really like about this movie was Greg Evigan's performance as the guardian angel Joe, I just felt it was really badly acted compared to everyone else in the film.

Cameron was really enjoyable to watch, I think my grandma now has a slight crush on him, but it's all good!! When he first "came back to earth" you really rooted for people to be able to see him and know he was there.

Erika was as always excellent in this movie, it was great seeing her play something a little different and nice seeing her play a mommy to a little girl. There was a great chemistry between the actresses on screen and you really wanted to see Annie get back home to be with her daughter for Christmas.

If you like a good drama/fantasy style movie, then this is definitely worth the watch, I know I'll watch it again (and again)

The Opponent (2000)
10/10
This movie is AWESOME
1 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I had eventually managed to get my hands on a copy of The Opponent on DVD and was so excited to sit down and finally watch it, was it worth the wait? absolutely!!!! (This may be considered a spoiler for some people, so beware) After years of domestic abuse, Patty (Erika Eleniak), finds an outlet for her anger in the ring of a community boxing club. She's spotted by the club fight promoter Fred (John Doman) and one of his round-club gals, June (Aunjanue Ellis). With the help of a trainer, former hopeful Tommy (James Colby), she begins to learn how to box and gain self-esteem. Tommy sees Patty's rage and tries to help her channel it in the ring. Patty learns a valuable lesson-the difference between fighting and boxing. When you fight, you lose. When you box, you win! As Patty's talents grow stronger so does her relationship with Tommy. In the end, Patty earns the self-confidence to stand up for what she believes in, the power to take control of her life and make it her own.

The chemistry between Tommy and Patty was brilliant and restrained at first, to allow the plot to unfold before the fireworks go off between them. James Colby plays his part of Tommy really well, you actually believe he is this amazing boxer in real life.

What I loved about this movie was that it wasn't just about boixng, it wasn't all about what they could get out of the sport, but what boxing would make of them, stronger and better outside of the ring!! Erika Eleniak is absolutely fantastic in this movie, she really shines through in this role and shows everyone just how talented she really is.

Anyone wondering whether on not to see it, just do it, you'll love it :)

Huff (2004–2006)
Fantastic Show!!!!
7 February 2006
Warning: Spoilers
For anyone interested in watching Huff, let me tell you, it's SO worth it!! It's one of the best, if not THE best shows I have seen in a while. It has a fantastic cast, brilliant story lines and a whole mix of things to think about and look forward to in each episode. I have written a small summery below on what the show is about (so warning if some people see that as a spoiler)

The show is about Huff, a psychiatrist who has spent his entire life helping others find peace and clarity while his own state-of-mind is in constant question. The suicide of one of his patients has now forced him to re-evaluate everything. We watch as a midlife crisis erupts into brief outbursts of delusion. The series is interspersed with fantasy sequences which expose Huff's take on his family and work as he struggles with his daily life.

Seriously, you wont regret watching this show :)

Huff: Pilot (2004)
Season 1, Episode 1
10/10
FAB
28 November 2004
This show is definitely worth watching, I'm finally glad I have something to look forward to watching on TV.

What I love about Huff, is that it isn't just one story, you have a few going at once, but none of the smaller stories take away from the main plot of the show.

I think it's a perfect choice of cast, they all have such great chemistry together, Hank and Paget are both fantastic actors and extremely underrated.

If you're looking for something to watch on a Sunday night, I would seriously recommend turning over to Showtime at 10 and giving Huff a chance, you wont regret it!

I hope this is eventually released on DVD, as it is something I can see myself wanting to watch more than once :) It's great news it has already been asked back for a second season :)

Serving Sara (2002)
DO NOT LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!!!!
23 August 2002
After seeing all the promotion Mr Perry has been doing over the last week or so for Serving Sara I started looking forward to this movie more and more. I went in today after reading what some of the reviewers had been saying about the movie and I have to admit I was a little worried I would be disappointed but the reviewers couldn't have been more wrong about this one. Matthew Perry is a fantastic actor and I have to agree with everything Larry King said to Matthew on Thursday 22nd August on his show

KING: My late friend Jackie Gleason made a movie once with a fellow named Tom Hanks, and he told me, this kid, big. You going to be the next Tom Hanks.

PERRY: Thank you very much.

KING: I'm predicting it, Perry. You're a lot like him, you have that air about you, you look the type, and I think you're going to get major roles and this one, "Serving Sara," is just another springboard on a great career.

After watching this movie I can defiantly say Matthew is going to be the next Tom Hanks. His comedic timing in this film was superb and the accents... hilarious!!!! the whole film had me in hysterics.

Everything about this movie was fantastic... not much else to say except DO NOT listen to the people reviewing this movie who say it's not worth seeing... they couldn't be more wrong !!!

I give it 10/10
