Go On, Be Brave (2023)
Beautiful, agonizing, inspiring film
Go On, Be Brave was so beautifully and thoughtfully shot, showing you the highs and the lows of this amazing woman's epic journey battling ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Andrea and her army of supporters (who I guarantee you will join, as her joy and tenacity and dedication are contagious) are featured in an authentic way that will have you laughing, crying, and even on the edge of your seat at times. It's a love story--about a solid marriage and a beautiful partnership, about friendships, about loving oneself, and about loving the life you have for the short time you have it. This is a must-see film!
Amy Schumer Learns to Cook (2020)
If you don't like Amy Schumer, you won't like this show. If you do, you will. Simple as that.
So I happen to love Amy Schumer and her irreverent humor, most people panning the show happen to have different taste. And that's ok. I am also pretty amateurish in the kitchen, and I am older than Amy, for those who have bashed her for her lack of cooking skills. I actually stumbled upon this show on Hulu, as I don't usually even watch the Food Network for that reason--I'm usually too intimidated to even attempt what some of these chefs are doing. What I like about this show is that they make very simple, delicious recipes that I can actually recreate, they make it fun, and I am truly learning some real cooking skills from Chris, including ways to improvise and substitute. It's a highlight of the week for me and my hubby--we learn new recipes and get ideas for the week (and for drinks, too) and we laugh our butts off.
