After watching this show I'm shocked that I hadn't watched it earlier. I'd only heard people calling it mediocre so I hadn't bothered, but this is exactly what I look for in Marvel media (particularly shows). It was light-hearted but not at the expense of the plot's ability to take itself seriously, and the main thing I think makes this show so good is the comparatively low stakes compared to the majority of Marvel (or superhero) content in general. I was dubious about Kate Bishop at first because the rich young girl we were introduced to didn't seem wholly relatable or like the kind of character I could get attached to, but Hailee Steinfeld proved me completely wrong - I hope to see her in more Marvel stuff in the future. As usual, Jeremy Renner was excellent as Clint Barton, who is by far the most interesting Avenger as far as I'm concerned. Finally, I'm always sceptical about sign language in film as it can feel disjointed when paired with other characters who are speaking instead, but I didn't have any of those problems at all - it actually enhanced the narrative imo. 9/10 for superhero content but 8/10 generally.
