Lost in Oz (2015–2018)
10/10
great
13 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I loved series 1. I hope they come out with a series 2.

The animated show is set in a modern, metropolitan Emerald City in which 12-year-old Dorothy Gale II befriends West, a young, street-smart witch grappling with dark temptations, and Ojo, a giant munchkin.

After Dorothy discovers a strange green notebook hidden under the floorboards of her house in Kansas, a giant green tornado tears her whole house off its foundation, stranding Dorothy and her dog Toto in the magical land of Oz.

Instead of the Yellow Brick Road, there is the Yellow Brick Line, a train system that seems long shuttered and unlikely to take Dorothy anywhere. She soon befriends a sarcastic, street-smart girl named West and a surprisingly big munchkin named Ojo, while also learning of the mechanics of magic and the dire magic shortage in Oz. Before the pilot episode is through, Dorothy will have made some surprising new friends and a potentially dangerous new enemy, losing one opportunity to get home in the process.

In the last few episodes of the first season, it is revealed that this series is actually a sequel of sorts to the books as Dorothy's great grandmother is the original Dorothy Gale.

love it
11 November 2017
I love this series. this show kinda reminds me of silent hill with the creepy darkness. I hope they do another season of this.

This thrilling Netflix original drama stars Golden Globe-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 -- inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce's 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.

Movie Description

Starring Shannen Doherty (Beverly Hills 90210), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) and Jason Brooks (Days of Our Lives), Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys is directed by James Cullen Bressack (Hate Crime, Pernicious) and sees the cast battle lampreys – eel-like fish with huge teeth and funnel-shaped mouths – after they slide their way into the city's sewer system and start terrorizing the residents of a small Michigan town. Brooks plays Michael, a fish and wildlife expert who moves to the town with his wife, Cate (Doherty), after being summoned by the town mayor, Akerman (Lloyd), to help deal with its attacking fish problem. River Monsters star Jeremy Wade also makes a cameo. But with these blood-suckers on the loose, the town's residents quickly learn that a casual dip in the pool or routine trip to the toilet can turn deadly as the lampreys hunt for their next victim.

A Monsterous Holiday (2013 TV Short)

A young inventor named Andy, reaches out to his neighbor Doctor Frankenstein to help him win the upcoming science fair. But, finding the Doctor not to be at home, he meets the next best thing, Frankenstein s monster; who turns out to be a teenager like himself. While Frankenstein takes Andy s place on the football team, Andy uses Frankenstein s knowledge and lab to find an invention for the fair. But when he inadvertently creates a monster of his own, they must work together to save the town and Halloween!

The Bottom Line

Quirky and fun, if you're trying to get into the spirit of Halloween, this animated story will set you on the right path. It's a new spin on an old OLD idea ( Frankenstein has been around for ages). Mixing Frankenstein with a mistaken identity/Parent Trap plot line is fresh take on the crazy inventor and his monster story. The animation is done in a similar style to Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs , so it's got some fantastic character design - the only place it really fall short is on some of the jokes and dialogue, which can be a little cheesy and cliché at times (but hey, that's sort of what Halloween is about right?) If you're planning a freaky Friday movie night, A Monstrous Holiday is a good place to start (hopefully followed by Frankenweenie or Hotel Transylvania, two great movies in the same genre.)

Color of the Cross 2: The Resurrection
21 March 2008
From director Jean Claude LaMarre (Color of the Cross), comes another epic film about the ministry of Jesus Christ. This daring film portrays the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his ministry after his death. After the crucifixion of Jesus, the disciples go into hiding believing their lives are in danger. They had lost all hope that Jesus would come back to them as He had prophesied. Three days after his death, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jesus, and other women go up to the tomb to put spices on Christ's body. They are shocked to find the tomb completely empty. Jesus' body is gone. The now frightened women go running out of the tomb, when two angels stop them. They declare to the women that Christ has risen! The women, still bewildered, go and spread the news to the disciples. Created with the same enthusiasm and astonishing interpretations as Color of the Cross, The Resurrection brings a new perspective of the resurrection and ascension of Christ.

Editorial Reviews
26 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Though marketed as a Sharon Stone thriller, this solemn chamber piece revolves around three men. One evening at work, Gary (Timothy Hutton in ever-present baseball cap) runs into night janitor Bill (Dylan Baker in over-sized spectacles). Gary and Travis (Pruitt Taylor Vince) used to tease Bill, a classical-music enthusiast, in high school. The encounter spurs Gary to reconnect with Travis, with whom he lost touch after the latter was involved in an automobile accident (for which he blames himself). Together, they drink and commiserate over their lonely lives; meanwhile, Gary's neglected wife, Karen (an uncharacteristically disheveled Stone), takes to sulking and shoplifting. Bill becomes preoccupied with his pretty neighbor, Sadie (Stacie Bono), and her abusive relationship (in his dreams, Bill saves Sadie from her attacker). A senseless tragedy forces these isolated individuals to face their fears once and for all. Originally known as When a Man Falls in the Forest, then When a Man Falls, the follow-up to Ryan Eslinger's Madness and Genius moves too slowly to generate suspense, while the characters lack sufficient development for their catharsis to have the desired impact. (An absence of personal touches, like portraits and mementos, contributes an air of artifice.) Despite their efforts, this leaves the actors stranded at times, particularly Baker, whose Bill is too bizarre to inspire much sympathy. Of the leads, Vince makes the best impression--would that Eslinger had concentrated more of the story on his character.
