Gravity (2013)
A passionless review.
There are too many reviews on this film that either hate it or love it. I don't agree with either.
Direction and Cinematography: Very good.
Music and sound effects: Very good.
Story and plot: Good, suspenseful but with flaws. This type of film could have gone for 100% realistic and strive for perfection, rather than try and be 50% realistic and 50% Hollywood-fun-but-fake, so as to try to allure audiences from both sides.
Acting: I have to say mediocre. I can't but compare Sandra Bullock to Sigourney Weaver in Alien. A strong female battles for survival. Well let's just say I wish this film was made back in the 80's.To be fair Bullock is very good in the movement part of her role.
P.S. No way is this the best film made in space Mr Cameron!

Show off!
When I first saw the film I was confused and I left the theater thinking about it. That's something I always enjoy in a film and I gave it 7/10 at the time. But thinking about it and seeing it again I felt a lot that it was a superficial film masked with a meaningful exterior. The themes in this film are something people can identify with. Loosing a parent, finding your sexuality, jealousy among friends and friendship in general. But further than that it had nothing to say. No point of view, no real reason for it's existence. Just a presentation of facts. It would be better as a documentary. So pretentious and fake. From the directing to the acting and the script it was shallow and meaningless. I think the director simply wanted to show off.
Don't waste your time. There are really good independent films out there. This isn't one of them.

Brilliant! An allegoric approach...So true...
This movie is about our society and our behavioral patterns as a species.
It's about what IS happening. Think about it. Τhat is why we don't know where or when everything is happening. This film demonstrates a universal problem. People might think that it is a mockery of western society or capitalism. I don't believe that to be true. It's the same weather you live in the middle east or in Europe. Whether you have cappitalism or communism. It's not specified politically. Because in the end it doesn't matter. It is about our lives and how we choose to lead them. We ARE trapped. We are being told LIES every day from our parents, who want the best for us, but they don't know any better. But they were raised the same way they are raising us. It's a circle. And from our governments as well. But we can't break free, because that's all we know. We still choose to participate in such a society. That is the absurd. And that is why this movie is surreal or supposedly weird and raw.
But what about reality shows? Or splatters? Or Rambo? Or Die Hard? Aren't they absurd? Yes. Do we watch them? Yes. Because they're not about us. That's why so many people hated this movie, or didn't want to understand it.
We are trained to watch absurd things and yet, when it comes to mirror our society or our lives, we turn away from it.
Please watch it. It's brilliant!
Sex and the City 2 (2010)
offensive
This movie presents New Yorkers as shallow, self-absorbed materialistic, one-sided human units, with no personality and no purpose in life. How could they possibly release a materialistic movie in this time and day?? It's offensive to all those who struggle through life due to this economy and represents a majority of people all over the world who stand and watch and do nothing!! When Samantha said "I've had it with this economy and I need to go somewhere rich", what was that all about?? It praises a way of life that is irrelevant. Shoes, clothes and a glamorous life is what us girls need to be happy! Even if you have a partner who loves you, if he watches to much TV, you're gonna cheat on him 'cause you want the glamor! No wonder so many people are in debt.
And it gets worst! They present the middle-eastern women as fashion victims too! Underneath all that black robes they wear, lies a glamorous world you wouldn't believe! The new spring collection! Yeah!!! Only rich people might identify with this movie, but only materialistic-wise. When it comes to every day problems, I don't think anyone in this world can identify with this movie.
Needless to say that the plot and script are unrealistic and the actors-well-who cares about performances?? Although I cannot comprehend how in the world Sarah Jessica Parker won 4 Golden Globes!!
Money well wasted!
