WandaVision: The Series Finale (2021)
Great finale for a great show
There were so many rumors regarding the finale about about potential cameos, plot twists etc...and none of that happened. And I loved it.
I am glad the finale was not overshadowed by famous guest stars popping up last minutes to save the day, but focused on Wanda and her family, her grief and the development of her powers instead, because that's what the show was about from the very start.
Riverdale: Chapter Eighty-Two: Back to School (2021)
Tension is growing...
Nice episode. The separate plotlines are slowly growing and becoming visible.
I like the idea of Barchie. Their personalities go well together. So far, they are mainly about sex, so we'll see how that's going. Don't like the hiding. Don't go behind your friend's back, tell Jug the truth, before he finds out by accident.
Toni's development is great. Can't wait to see, how the baby will be incorporated into the story.
Jug and Tabitha have a great chemistry. What a refreshing pairing. I need more of them together. Also glad that Jug is getting something to do again. I like seeing him investigate mysteries.
I do miss their friendships though, especially Jarchie und Beronica. I hope we'll get more of these soon.
The singing, while nice, seems very unnecessary most of the times. It doesn't add anything but slows down the episodes. Use it well or don't use it.
Riverdale: Chapter Eighty-One: The Homecoming (2021)
Really liking this season so far...
Liked it a lot. Them all becoming teachers, was a bit cheesy. But the rest of the storylines were actually less over the top than in previous seasons and made sense to me.
The couple-mix-up seems to be an issue for many viewers. I actually find it refreshing. Most people don't end up with their high school love. That's life. But I kind of have the feeling, that it's just temporary. Varchie and Bughead are probably endgame. I'm fine with all pairings as long as the stories are told nicely and believable.
Toni reminds me a lot of Jughead before the time jump. I like her development lot. She has so much more to offer than being Cheryls sidekick.
Not sure, what to make of Jugs storyline so far. On the one hand I find it really interesting, because it's a new side of him. On the other hand, I miss tough Jug. He really has changed a lot.
And they didn't even take him to fight the Ghoulies. lol
Barchie is gonna be awkward, with Jug living there, I guess.
Haven't really warmed up to Betty yet. She is always so perfect. I like that she's not a damsel in distress but really tough and clever instead. But she needs more flaws in opinion.
As a school girl, she used to be able to pick absolutely every lock in nano seconds, dismantle bombs, stitch wounds, outrace the police on a motorcycle and draw conclusions out of nothing. And she was almost always right. I hope they tone it down a bit and make her more human, because she's really interesting and I'd love to see that side of her.

So, ignoring the musical bits....
Another musical episode. Will the writers ever learn? But okay, I won't be complaining, because we got way less singing this season. And if one musical episode per season is the price for not having a random song in every episode, I'll accept it.
I know it was a nod to the original, but I still wonder where and when Jug leaned to play the drums ;-)
So Barchie happened. Well, I don't care for shipping. I want to be entertained. So I don't really care who is dating who, as long as it is well executed and adds to the show instead of slowing it down.
When Betty and Jug grew closer in S1, I thought they were an odd pairing. But I quickly started to really like them together. They had a wonderful dynamic with each other. But that went away quickly. Lots of their couple scenes were just boring. Most of it was just making out or lying in bed. No real everyday couple interaction. I couldn't care less whether they discuss they newest case at a table at Pops or half naked in bed.
I also think it didn't do Jug well as a character. In S1, I found him the most interesting of the core 4. I have seen Archies, Bettys and Veronicas in plenty of other teen shows before. But Jug, while not being a completely new character, was still way more innovative. At least for me. That also goes for his storylines: Living on the street, the Serpents, the relationship to his dad etc. I liked all of those. Then he became Super-Betty's sidekick, who assisted her in being all wannabe-badass and bringing down the villians. He has more to offer, as seen before. I definitely preferred his stories outside of their relationship. And I hope a break from Bughead could give us that again.
And Archie and Veronica? They barely interact...apart from making out or from Veronica solving Archies problems with money. They have very different morals and goals in life, which should, be difficult for every couple and should make for some great stories. Yet we never see them dealing with that. There is no growths in their relationship.
I'm not necessarily pro Barchie, as I find it to early to tell. But I am open to it, if it's well executed. I'm not complaining about the cheating like many others here (Yes, cheating is absolutely wrong! But drugging, beating, blackmailing, kidnapping, killing people is wrong too and our beloved characters have crossed these lines before. Is cheating really that much worse?) But I didn't like the set up here. They all had fights before, worse fights, and they didn't cope by kissing other people. Also after a few fights this seasons (Mainly because Jug didn't tell Betty every tiny secret) Bughead seemed on perfectly good terms lately. And now Jug not doing his homework drives Betty in Archies arms? Wow. Who would have thought that this was Betty's trigger?
I don't mind the writers to explore Barchie a bit further. It could spice up the show a bit. And yes, not all first love highschool sweethearts end up together...Some break up. Perfectly normal. But I hope they explore it carefully and don't force it. And I really, really hope that doesn't sideline Jug and Veronica within the show. Find good storylines for them and I'm fine with it.
Riverdale: Chapter Seventy-Two: To Die For (2020)
Surprise? Not really...
Did anyone actually believe Jughead was dead? I am glad he's not, but this set up and the revelation were so badly executed. This whole plan was a huge mess. It seemed like they made it up on the go.
And Betty & Co didn't even try to look sad. No wonder, nobody believed them.
Also Betty makes such an unconvincing master planner. I can't take her serious, when she's trying to be all cool and superior. Please give her something else to do next season. I'm sure there is more to the character than that. She's getting repetitive and I want to see a new side of her.
The constant make out scenes add nothing to the plot. Since season three there is basically no real couple interaction apart from making out. Jug and Betty had such a great dynamic in season one. Where did that go? They became so boring together. And Veronica and Archie seem to live in two different worlds by now. I'm actually looking forward to some shake up here.
I really liked the flash forwards this season. I also actually liked the Stonewall Prep storyline because finally at least some of the characters got a story that kind of works for students (unlike Archie or Veronica, who are running several businesses in their free time) But this episode was a huge let down.
We'll see what the upcoming episodes have in store.
Riverdale: Chapter Sixty-One: Halloween (2019)
Interesting season so far
I actually really like Jughead's storyline so far. They are supposed to be teenagers after all. Nice to see a story that fits the character's age but is still intense. I'm curious where this leads us. Especially with the last scene.
Archies current story is still a bit boring. Can't really say, what to think of it yet. But there are plenty of episodes to go.
Betty annoys me though. She is a teenager, who is a car expert, picks every lock in nanoseconds, dismantles bombs, draws conclusions out of nowhere, outraces the police on a motorcycle, even though we've never seen her riding one before etc. This character is so over the top. It's ridiculous. I really liked her at the beginning. I hope they tone it down a bit and let her be a relatively normal teenager again.
Cheryl...well a bit disturbing. But at least she seems more consistent lately and doesn't change personality every episode.
Overall, I like this season so far. Can't wait to see everything unfold.
