Alien Resurrection (1997)
Better than 3!
After seeing and being disgusted with the 3rd installment I wasn't about to spend money to see this latest slaughtering of a classic. So instead I watched it on HBO. The story line had several well placed plots that kept the story moving at a surprisingly steady pace. Of course like everyone else I was not happy with the ending and the whole"baby alien" thing was a joke. The creature design was poor and unsophisticated for the series. That being the only major flaw of the movie this piece got more respect from me than the third piece did. After several years I find myself watching all four installments all over again and yes, Aliens3 has gotten better with age. As will resurrection. It leaves the series open for another installment, even though it should have ended with 3. The 5th piece would more than likely be an alien invasion of earth, but first Wynonna needs to get out of jail before filming could start and her trailer would have to be routinely checked to make sure none of the props or costumes were taken. This movie needs a little more time before it gets the respect it deserves, no matter how little that respect may be. 3 took awhile, Resurrection just seems to be taking longer...
Big Trouble (2002)
Was that a goat?
Besides being based on a great book this star studded cast delivers punch lines and run on jokes in a very Kevin Smith fashion, but only in a shorter length of time. What else can I say except look out for goats while in Miami, Fl.
Titus (2000)
I laughed, I cried, I mostly laughed untill I cried
I don't pray much, but I do pray to the television go to bring back the funniest show I've seen since the simpsons and family guy. How can anyone not love these characters, they are on the same level as everyone else and it makes them even more enjoyable to watch. Dave has to be the coolest brother ever, how can you not enjoy watching someone having a dog drink milk out of their mouth? exactly you can't! the worst thing FOX ever did was cancel Titus, hopefully the whole series will be put out on DVD or something, its the least FOX could do.
Dogma (1999)
8 years of catholic will do this to you
With a working title of"God" and a script thats been in the works before Smith even decided to do another movie at all after "Clerks" what could be better? why adding Smith's prowess in dick and fart jokes, times like this makes me hope that God has a sense of humor, especially when being portrayed by Ms. Morissette, a great cast compliments this title and makes it work, other wise it would have just been an 130 minute fart joke that never seemed to end. I definetly suggest the special DVD version for anyone who would like to see the hour of deleted footage(thats right the movie would have been more than three hours long, that is a long fart joke) Another great movie under Smith's belt, is there anything he can't make fun of and not get in trouble for? besides his mother?
Mallrats (1995)
unfortunately Kevin's best work yet
I love anything kevin smith has touched, it might not turn to gold but it has its own personal worth, this was the first Kevin Smith film that i ever saw and enjoy watching it still, even though i can quote the movie when i'm not in the room. But unfortunately its his best work so far, i want to see something out due Mallrats, if its possible, if its not i will settle and let Mallrats be the greatest movie ever, but now Kevin has experience under his belt and hopefully there won't be anymore movies with just Jay and Bob, which i understand as being the greatest characters ever created, but how can you forget Brodie? Jason Lee is a great actor, Mallrats may not prove it but he is truly up there when it comes to comedy. Its a true shame we won't see anymore come out of the View Askew universe, but like Kevin said"it was nice while it lasted" I just hope it never ends, this movie has characters you just fall in love with, even if all they do is just hang out at the mall.
Clerks (1994)
its amazes me how much I aim to find a job like this...
When you work in the movie business, well the movie theatre business, you see trends come and go, but when movies leave lasting impressions on people that actually change their life long goals, me for example, growing up I always wanted to create video games, now i just want to find a soul-sucking convienant store job that i can close it when ever i want to play hockey on the roof. For more dead end job humor check out Office Space, i have yet to work in a cubicle, and after seeing this i never want to!
