The Foreigner (2003)
Bad, worse, Foreign(er)
Mr Seagal has apparantly lowered his (already low) standards even more and has now outdone himself in making bad movies. The Foreigner has no substance what so ever in the script. It's director has made an even worse job and the music and score is so cheezy and malplaced that you just don't know whether to laugh or cry. Already 10 minutes into the movie, you just want to turn it off. However, considering Steven Seagal's past movies, you think 'Hey, there might be some cool action-sequences at least worth watching...' ...you are WRONG! It only gets worse as the movie progresses. Everyone (with a few exceptions) seem to kill every person that they talk to, good or bad, innocent or not. The only good thing with the movie is that it that it has an end and that it has a rather short running time. Summing the movie up in two words: STAY AWAY!
Operation Delta Force (1997)
Is this a joke?
This is one of the most predictable and poorly manufactured action-movies ever made. It doesn't go all the way down on the rating only because it is so bad that it turns into a comedy. Btw, check out the sound-effects here! The bullets sound like they're hitting metal when they actually hit nothing but dirt, wood or rock. Strange...
Dong fang ju long (1988)
If you really like kung-fu or Jet Li: Watch it. Otherwise: Skip it!
This documentary shows excellent archive footage of Jet Li's childhood and teenage performances in martial arts. We also get to see a variety of different kung-fu styles performed by various artists. These parts of the documentary is well worth a look if you're interested in performing martial arts or the history of martial arts.
However, the two narrators, who also show themselves every now and then and try to come up with something witty to say, just sound and look really stupid. Perhaps this is because of the English dubbing, but they really don't add anything to the documentary. They rather decrease the quality instead.
So in conclusion, if you want to see some of the different styles of kung-fu and learn some about the history of it, as well as see some footage of a young Jet Li, then this is a great source to seek out. You'll just have to ignore or fast-forward the parts where the narrators talk...
Wong fei hung VI: Sai wik hung see (1997)
Excellent martial-arts movie.
This is one of the best movies in the "Once upon a time in China" series. Funny once in a while with its goofy Chinese humour and filled with fast fightingsequences that are beyond us "normal" people. :) The synchronized sound is, as usual not the best, but it does the trick..
