The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband (2023)
Beautiful, captivating. Minor critiques.
I watched ads every day didn't spend a penny to watch the whole series. Spoiler alert.
As another user said, this was a really enjoyable low budget film. For a really simple love story with minute-long episodes, I really enjoyed the plot.
The one criticism I'd have is on episodes 36 and 37, when Serena sets Natalie up and falsely accuses her of attempting to murder their boss, Mr. Walter. I feel like in the real world, if someone were to be in Natalie's shoes, they would typically immediately respond in a way that is panicked, fearful, angry, etc. Something like, "No, Serena, it was YOU who told me to get that hazelnut coffee! All of this was YOUR idea as YOU decided to waste away my working time buying coffee for everyone. YOU put on that SMUG, ARROGANT face of yours as you told me to go get another one and told me where his office was. And YOU DARE to have the AUDACITY of pointing your finger at ME?!" followed by variations of "I didn't do it!" Or, if the accused person was silent, the shock/fear/anger/disgust would appear more visibly on their face, body language etc (Shaking, changes in breathing patterns, etc).
Instead, Natalie sort of just stood there. She almost looked calm or indifferent. Maybe her character is exceptionally introverted and quiet, but she looked a little bit too calm to the point where it didn't make sense. And she did have a breakdown similar to what I described in Episode 19, after Sebastian loses his temper at her for trying to pawn the wedding shoes instead of asking him for financial help. Back to the false murder accusation, I also wish that Sebastian came to her defense, instead of sitting there silently (which felt out of character for him, given how he defended her in Episodes 17 and 18).
I should note that I don't think it's the actors' fault at all. I think they were doing their best with what was on the script, and they did splendidly. I also think that the writers deserve leniency. Since this appears to be a low budget story, I suspect that they were doing their best with the time they had / what they were paid, as well.
