Beauty and the Beast (2017)
our favorite movie
From the very beginning, Beauty and the Beast captivates the audience with its stunning visuals, expertly crafted set designs, and elaborate costumes. The picturesque French village and the grandeur of Beast's castle are brought to life in a way that immerses viewers into the magical world of Belle (Emma Watson) and the Beast (Dan Stevens).
Emma Watson's portrayal of Belle is captivating, as she brings a modern and independent twist to the character. She embodies Belle's intelligence, kindness, and unwavering spirit, making her an incredibly relatable and empowering role model for today's generation.
Dan Stevens brilliantly embodies the tortured and misunderstood Beast, conveying his inner conflict between anger and vulnerability. The chemistry between Watson and Stevens is palpable, making their evolving relationship feel truly heartfelt and sincere.
The film's all-star supporting cast is equally impressive, with standout performances by Luke Evans as Gaston, the narcissistic antagonist, and Josh Gad as LeFou, Gaston's loyal but conflicted sidekick. These characters bring a perfect balance of humor and depth to the story, adding an extra layer of entertainment.
Wonderwell (2023)
Great movie for evening with family
Setting & Cinematography: 5/5. The blend of Italy's beauty with the fantasy world captivates right from the get-go. Story & Script: 4/5.
While the heart of Wonderwell is enchanting, certain areas, especially Yana and Hazel relationship motives, needed more explanation. Performances: 5/5. Carrie Fisher shines, anchoring the story with raw emotion. Pacing: 3.5/5. Some moments felt a tad rushed, pulling away from the overall immersion.
Comments: I watched Wonderwell with my child, and the tale's magic gripped him thoroughly. The mix of a modern setting with a fairy-tale twist was an instant hit. Despite some narrative hiccups, the film's emotional core and mesmerizing visuals make it a memorable watch, especially for younger viewers who find themselves swept up in its charm. A delightful pick for family movie nights.
