X-Men '97: Fire Made Flesh (2024)
Inferno Saga?! Wow I can''t wa... wait, that's it?
Kind of a letdown that they teased the Inferno Saga and it ended up before it even began, with Morph for no in-story reason assuming Lylandra's appearence as a teenager only to be mind controlled by Madelyine to assume her inferno appearence for a quick reference.
I mean, I loved that there are such references (like Rogue and Magneto in the Savage Land outfits) but it would be so much better if they weren't so shallow like the ones in this episode and actually made sense in the story.
And to top that disapointingment we have a teaser for Storm return. I really hoped we would get more episodes without her.
Nathan's technorganic virus was a nice surprise though. Never imagined we would actually see that, albeit briefly, in the X-Men animated universe.
Here is hope that the next ones briing back the quality of the first two and this one won't set up a trend.
X-Men '97: Mutant Liberation Begins (2024)
Astonishing follow-up and more 90s Comics Tribute!
I think this one was even better than the pilot, which was amazing. They are actually the Magneto arc from the comics and, by the looks of it, Madelyne Prior as well! Honestly I didn't see that coming at all and it puts a wide grim on my face. I am full on board now and seriously hope they don't drop the ball after this astonishing beginning (pun intended). If they keep following the 90s comics this close this is gonna be the best X-Men project on screen ever, the likes of which I have been expecting and being constantly disappointed since the first movie from 2000.
Oh, and the fact the freaking Storm loses his power and ditches the X-Men was the perfect icing on the cake. I know it was supposed to be a tragic, emotional moment but I hate that character thanks to the way the voice actor chews the scenery harder than anyone on every single line she delivers! If she stays out for long, or maybe the whole season, this is gonna be perfection. I know it is too much to ask, but the hope on this show has allowed me to dream again.
Six claws up, bub.
X-Men: Bloodlines (1996)
Rogue doesm't care about her mama due to the words about God from her demon stepbrother who makes her perform a noble sacrifice while Jubille lampshades about soap opera plot
What the heck happenned to this show?! Did some religious nut blackmailed the studios?
Rogue actually had a mother-daughter relationship with Mystique but couldn't care less about her apparent death! All she could say is for Nightcrawler dont get sad with he sacrifice because his religious talk really do affect people and turn them into really good people willing to sacrifice, so it is all good.
What the hell, really?!
I dont remember if in the comics Mystique also had a son with Sabertooth, but that was stupid, and having Jubillee lampshading about how this looks like a soap opera doesnt help one bit.
And what the freak was that cartoonish sabertooth at the end twirling his mustache at his son?! LOL
This is really, really bad.
X-Men: Family Ties (1996)
The Sitcom with Michael J. Fox is better than this trash.
Whoa, and I thought the first 3 seasons were childish when I first watched them as a kid in the 90s after reading the comics (the stories right after Inferno). This show really took a nosedive after the Phoenix Saga. It gets worse every episode. Not long after Wolverine finds Jesus he gets comically transformed in a 80s cartoon animal monster. The lines of dialogue from Xavier, Magneto and everyone else are cornier than ever, the deliveries woodier than ever. And how the hell Magneto came back after having his molecules spread for being a junkie in withdraw (another stupid plot btw) ?!
Geez.... Saban really knew how to turn something cool into lame garbage, just like Super Sentai to Power Rangers.
I have a feeling this trend will go on and continue on X-Men 97. Just lost all hype for it.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Many Heads, One Tale (2015)
Hello friend.
I had to write this because I didn't see anyone else commenting on it.
This episode had great Mr. Robot easter eggs, which had just had its first season aired the same year. First the dude from the ATCU tech team talks about his favorite episode and how Darlene was perfect on it. Then we see Hunter posing as a hacker with the disguise consisting of the characteristic hood which bears close ressemblance to Elliot's and glasses that evoke Mr. Robot's. And finally we get the new villain's name, Gideon Malick! A fusion of Elliot's boss first name and Rami Malek's last name? I do think so!
These easter eggs alone make this my favorite Agents of S. H. I. E. L. D. episode so far. Gideon was perfect on it. ;)
Constellation: The Wounded Angel (2024)
Cheese cliche family drama badly acted with sparse sprinkles of space stuff and three good actors.
Awful acting across the board with the exception of Jonathan Banks (legendary Mike from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul), Barbara Sukowa (legendary Doctor Katharina Jones from 12 Monkeys) and even James D´Arcy (Jarvis from Agent Carter, best part of that show). Those three (at least for the moment) make this show slightly bearable.
Also a huge disapointment to see Thinkpads being used in the ISS with awful barcode labels obviously covering their labels. Imagine seeing macbooks being used with huge barcode labels covering the Apple logo. RIdiculous.
Had to fast forward throuch the cheesy cliche family drama to get to the space parts which, unfortunately, pass by faster at normal speed than the family drama at double speed, which still are a slog to go through.
Loki: Breaking Brad (2023)
Those were people! Different from all those other people who also died!
After years pruning branches and killing gazillions people, suddenly that X whatever is her name lady is REALLY horrified of branches being erased with, gasp, people living on them!
I joked on my comment on last episode that the show felt like they hired new writers that never watched one episode of the last season, bit it turns out this season is REALLY being written by a new writing team LOL. Man, they REALLY needed to at least take a glimpse at the scripts from last season. It'sb becoming beyond ridiculous at this point.
Also the McDonald's ads were really up in our noses this time. I was surprised Sylvie didn't have a dialogue line about her new life saying she was lovin' it!
Loki: Ouroboros (2023)
When Sylvie changed the multiverse she also replaced the writers from Season 1, and the new ones didn't bother to watch last season.
The previous season clearly setup that Loki was in an alternate universe where Kang was the rules. Now they totally changed that cool premise to the illogical explanation that it was actually the past that no one on TVA remembers, even though Kang wasn´t supposed to exist in the past of that timeline because "he who remains" whole stick was to precisely prevent that from happenning.
This story doesn't make a lick of sense. It feels like the writers were replaced and the new ones never watched season 01.
To top that, the episode filled with dumb jokes. And then the most grating character keeps repeating the same unfunny routine over and over again. Do people like this freaking actor just bacause they liked him as a kid on Temple of Doom? He is awful.
Ahsoka: Part Eight: The Jedi, the Witch and the Warlord (2023)
So many question left unaanswered.
Why did Huyang have a spare kyber crystal on the ship? Why Ezra didn't use the Force to build his new lightsaber? Why didn't Morgan recover from her superficial belly wound like Sabine did with her impalment through internal organs? Why Ezra kept wearing his stormtrooper helmet when he escaped the Star Destroyer? Why Ahsoka and Sabine don't use the Perguls that go back to their galaxy, the same ones the nightsisters' ancestors used to get there? Why Trawn has such a positive outlook on life even when things don't go his way? Why Hera changed her orange pants to the brown ones that hides her butt in that one and only scene in the court martial? Why Anakin doesn't pull Ahsoka and Sabine back to the world between worlds and transport them back to their galaxy? Why people like the stuff Dave Felony writes?
Futurama: All the Way Down (2023)
Quantum Mechanics is NOT an evidence for the simulation theory, it is the other way around.
Best episode of the season. Only flaw is the Quantum Mechanics argument to the Universe being a simulation. The way quantum mechanics actually works makes it even more computation intensive than a classical deterministic universe, not the other way around. The whole "being in both places until an observation is made" is, according to the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, due to all trajectories taken place at the same time until one of them is observed by a particular observer. In order for, say, an electron travelling throught a two-slit experiment be simulated, the computer would have to compute all the trajectories taking place, even the ones prohibited by the classical laws of motion. It is actually an evidence AGAINST the simulation theory, not in favor of it. Charlatans like Elon Musk and Neil Degrasse Tyson would lie and make you believe otherwise for their own selfish egocentric reasons though.
It was a cleverly written story nevertheless.
Next: FILE #2 (2020)
Unexpectly better than the pilot episode.
Well, the show DID get better from the pilot episode. LeBlanc had pretty funny lines with a bunch of characters. We had a decent enough hacking scene. Some top tier gaslighting emotional manipulation from Next. And, as I suspected, CM turned out to be quite a cool dude, despíte the shows attempts at the previous episode at sticking every negative stereotype imaginable in the short time he was one. Heck, I was expecting them to spell it out the CM meant child molester. Hope he stays on the show instead of becoming collateral damage so his unsuferable colleagues assume his role (which is what I fear will happen).
Fingers crossed it will keep the forward momentum.
Ahsoka: Part Six: Far, Far Away (2023)
So, the best episode of the Show Ahsoka is the one where Ahsoka doesn't show up.
It is not great or anything, but at least stuff happens.
They did strech out a little bit over the acceptable trhrshhold the suspense before the big reveals, but at least it was shorter than the pauses between lines of dialogue in the previous episodes.
Baylon and Shin are the only good characters so far, and we actualy got to see them develop on screen, instead of acting like mustache twirling villains.
Thrawn shows some potential, I guess... Not much to see yet.
The actor who plays Ezra has a voice very close to the original (unlike Sabine and Ahsoka). Is he the original voice actor?
Oh, the best part (besides no Ahsoka). NOBODY CROSSED THEIR ARMS!
Ahsoka: Part Five: Shadow Warrior (2023)
Revenge of the Fanfic OC. Member Clone Wars? Member Anakin? Member Darth Vader?! I Member!
Pointless episode.
Anakin and Ahsoka fight because he wants to teach her one last lesson: "it is bad to die".
Ahsoka is full of herself and makes fun of Anakin because he has nothing left to teach her. She keeps crossing her arm.
Flashback/Nostalgia scenes where an young Ahsoka, played by an actress with an even worse performance than Rosario, sees clone troopers dying and is sad and angry at Anakin for teaching her how to be a warrior and thus getting clones killed. She also crosses her arms.
Lightning effects and Vader imagery to make fans excited to see Vader again in an awful show.
Dave Filoni OC proves she is so much cooler than Vader, defeats him and chooses not to kill him, tosses his light saber away.
Anakin approves Mary Sue and sends her in her merry way.
They rescued Ahsoka from the bottom of the Ocean. Either she died from falling on the ocean and came back to life or she can breath underwater. Either way is dumb.
Ahsoka turns into Gandalf the White. She starts wearing white even before she wakes up after being rescued. Did Anakin dressed her up? They decide they don't need the map cause Ahsoka can talk to the space whales, hop her ship inside the stomach of one of them and tell them to go where Ezra/Trawn/Sabine are. Geez. No one could see that coming.
And that's it! They could cut everything between Ahsoka waking up in make-believe-land and she being rescued that no one would notice, because it doesn't influence the story in nothing whatsoever, other than showing that FIloni´s OC is cooler than Anakin/Vader, so fans should clap.
Ahsoka is still the insufferable character from the 2008 Clone Wars film. Rather, she is even worse.
