Tensei Shitara Dainana Ouji Datta Node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu (2024)
Not good for children.
The core issue lies in the execution. Our protagonist, Prince Lloyd, reincarnates into a world brimming with magical possibilities. Yet, the anime fails to capitalize on this. We see glimpses of a rich magical system, with different spellcasting styles and unique applications. However, these elements are relegated to background details. The focus, instead, falls on Lloyd's mundane daily life in the royal palace.
Endless episodes showcase Lloyd taking naps, brewing tea, or having inane conversations with his equally uninteresting attendants. The fantastical world-building becomes mere window dressing, a missed opportunity to explore a captivating magic system alongside a passionate protagonist.
Tensei Shitara Dainana Ouji Datta Node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu: I Reincarnated as the Seventh Prince (2024)
Fool Protagonist, Bland World.
Our protagonist, Lloyd, is the embodiment of the "meh" isekai protagonist. Reborn with past-life memories of a magic enthusiast, you'd expect a burning desire to delve into the arcane arts. Instead, Lloyd approaches magic with the enthusiasm of a slug attending a lettuce convention. He casts spells, sure, but with all the excitement of someone checking their mailbox. Buckle up, because we're diving into a world of wasted potential. The biggest disappointment lies in the anime's treatment of magic itself. The series throws around terms like "fireball" and "enchantment" with little visual flair or explanation. We see Lloyd, the seventh prince, practicing magic, but it's a repetitive montage of generic light effects and hand gestures. The anime fails to capture the wonder and complexity of a magical system, leaving viewers with a sense of "is that all there is?"
