My Life with the Walter Boys (2023)
If you liked Dawson creek...
... You're gonna love this! All the drama of Little House on the Prairee and the Waltons, but with 8 John Boys. The action is non- stop because it never began. Heaven only knows why Sarah Rafferty thought this was a good career move. Imagine, if you can, what might happen if you take the pretty teen aged girl out of the city and move her into a ranch with 8 boys! Shocker! If you want a no brain feel good show for the holidays, go for it. And when you're done with the 10 episodes, watch Reacher for an extreme change of pace. Nothing really offensive about the show but then nothing to make you look forward to the next episode.
Severance (2022)
Too fricking weird!
I guess I'm too old for this, but it was the weirdest show I've ever tried to watch. Got through 5 episodes, and my wife and I looked at each other and we both said, "Enough".
The Guest (2014)
Juevenile
Bad writing, bad acting, waste of 2 hours I can never get back.
The Code (2019)
Reason for the inaccuracies
Many of the people commenting that uniforms have mistakes may not be aware that any time a service member is portrayed on tv or in a movie, there MUST be one aspect of their uniform that is incorrect, sometimes something as minor as having a ribbon in the wrong order on their right chest. That said, this show does play loose with military decorum. I've watched all 6 episodes and am starting to like some of the characters, but the stories are good. Stone-face Delaney is pretty good.
The Mule (2018)
Love Clint BUT...
As much as I love C E (and I think Gran Torino was one of the best movies ever) this was slow, and unrealistically simplistic. Major drug cartel is going to trust this novice mule with a $12M shipment, and not put a gps on his truck OR THE PHONE THEY GAVE HIM???
And the feds are going to make their mark by busting the mule instead of going up the cartel ladder? We see the boss ordering Earls death, but apparently they bloodied him up and sent him on his way with the shipment. And the guy who didn't even know how to text recognizes he's a mule, he gets stopped by a cop with a drug sniffing dog, deflects the dog and pacified the cop with some popcorn. Really? Anybody but Clint and Cooper and this wouldn't get 3 nights in theaters!
Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
An amazing tribute!
Once again, the "professional" critics have their heads up their collective arses! This may be my favorite movie ever, it's like getting front row tickets to an hour long Queen concert and weaving in a poignant story of a troubled rock star. Rami Malek's performance is Oscar worthy, he portrays the many widely divergent personalities of Freddy Mercury with such skill, you absolutely feel like that's Freddy on screen. Otherwise, the casting is great, acting captivates you, and the relatively few liberties taken by the producers are insignificant to the story's telling. I saw it on day 3 of the opening weekend, and was very disappointed by the absence of an audience.
Up in the Air (2009)
Frightfully depressing movie
Just short of "Hated it". Clooney In fact, the acting as a whole) was very good, but the movie in general was one of the most depressing I've ever watched. From dealing with incredible shallowness to having a plot (Idiot's guide to How to Fire Employees) that maximizes depression in the holidays, amidst an unbearable job market, this was an unpleasant 2 hours right before Christmas. Artistically well done, but the blatant commercialism brings "product placement" to a new level...Hilton, Hertz and American Airline must have paid big bucks, poor Luxor Hotel in Vegas ("that dump") obviously didn't. And Hollywood liberals rant against blatant corporate commercialism??? Go figure!
If you go in happy, you'll leave sad. If you go in sad, bring someone with you, you won't want to be alone. Maybe it's the wrong time in our society, given the current unemployment numbers, but if you've recently been fired, this will not make your life better. I have job security, and it made me very nervous.
