Saw X (2023)
3/10
Seriously?
14 October 2023
...or should I say jovially? Or juvenile? Because there is nothing serios about this movie, except it seriosly put an end to a milked franchise.

I expected something like original movie at least, but I will never trust these ratings anymore. There are a lot of movies rated around 5.0 that are better than this overrated mess.

I must say, some scenes are really well filmed, and there are some gruesome stuff like every Saw movie, but in the end, it only got +2 rating from me. Why? Because everything else is bad. From cold/blue scenery to warm/yellow change when in Mexico (groundbreaking), to unbelievable ending which feels really amateurish. Not even one likeable character. But, I would say it wasn't boring. So, fans of the previous movies and superhero no-brain-needed lovers, enjoy.

The Nun II (2023)
8/10
Slow start, great middle and typical ending
11 September 2023
In this nun outing, the scariest part of the story isn't about her... it's a goat.

But even though there were some run-of-the-mill parts, the second nun movie is actually good, if you like the first movie. Some great scenes should be experienced in 4d cinema. Although, bring the jacket, because the wind is blowing in most situations!

I liked that it got a little bit deeper in mythology. The scenery is great, as it was in the first movie - good directing. A lot of scary scenes, especially the one on the staircase. The things I didn't like - it's a little bit awkward with those annoying children and some dialogues seem forced.

Overall, it's definitely worth seeing. This year is not really a good horror year so far unfortunately, unlike the previous few. So, so far this is one of the highlights.

Hellraiser (2022)
9/10
Best Hellraiser since the first one
6 October 2022
So far, it seems like director David Bruckner can't make a bad movie... The Ritual, The Night house, all stylish horror movies of the last few years. Maybe in top 10 horror movie directors of today.

For the newest Hellraiser, many complained about female antagonist, and it didn't bother me, nor I think it's better or worse fact since it is closer to the original concept. Comparing to th previous director's movies, it's his most stylish movie until now. Cinematography is the best in the franchise. Atmosphere perfect, maybe I'm a bit biased because it's filmed in my city, Belgrade, but all the looks fit the story.

Overall, I believe it's definitely worth watching for every horror movie fan, and don't expect just another remake of some movie. No, this stands alone as a pretty solid adaptation. One of my top 10 horrors of this year.

Undeservingly hated
5 August 2022
It's so sad how people rate movies without seeing them. And give 1 stars just because they don't like the plot they read in one sentence. And hate the title just because of the current pronouns trend. Let people watch and enjoy movies they care about, and actually want to see them. And leave the prejudices and hate for some private time that you could spend elsewhere.

About the movie, it's really interesting if you're into that vibe, I love camp horror movies, like Friday the 13th obviously. The cast is great too. It doesn't try to be more than it is - a typical slasher summer camp movie for the 2020s. Except for some twists that I didn't like, it's a great movie to watch for a summertime horror fun.

Overall, worth seeing and THEN rating it according to your opinion.

Come True (2020)

Very underrated
22 June 2022
I saw this movie 2 years ago, and it's still among the best ones since the beginning of 2020s, in horror genre. It's memorable, has a lot of scary stuff, it's stylish and atmospheric, what else do you expect? There aren't a lot of high quality horrors currently, and this one really stands out. Right now, the rating is 6,0. I guess it will take some time before this movie gets higher score, because it's really underrated.

This is the atmosphere we all want
22 June 2022
In style of older classics, like Texas chainsaw, comes this 2020s modern horror. You can love it or hate it, this movie is not so popular without a reason - and you've already seen it, or at least you will.

Even though I gave it the highest score, it has flaws, in terms of story in general... it's a bit underwhelming. But actors are all great, style is outstanding... horror movie lovers will enjoy it for that alone. In the last few years there aren't a lot of horror movies that deserve classic status, maybe around dozen since the beginning of 2020s. This one is among those.

Watcher (I) (2022)
8/10
An above average suspense slow burner
22 June 2022
This movie doesn't want you to get your hopes too high - it is what it is, a nice thriller/horror that is a bit slow, but not boring. Has that style of old Dario Argento movies, which I love. It is better than most of new films, and has that old school suspense style, which is refreshing in the sea of new movies that are trying too hard to let you know they are "smart".

If you want to see something new, and there are not a lot of good options, Watcher is a good choice to... watch, for a quiet summer night.

I wanted to like this, but really nothing special
24 November 2021
I was looking forward to see this movie, thinking it would be the best horror movie of the year, based on images, plot that seemed interesting and later good reviews. My mistake!

First hour was like - okay, this seems to be a great build up to something, maybe the horror will come now... it never did. Bad acting (or overacting) except for Ms Collins. Cringe moments. Unrealistic, unbelievable, unnecessary. The story is so bad... I wonder how many movies have people seen in their lives if they rate this higher than 7? Because it's like a mix of many ordinary movies in one badly made ragdoll.

The only other good thing except for a promising build-up is the atmosphere, but it still doesn't come near anything Argento as it tried.

Squid Game (2021– )

Cliché galore
17 October 2021
This is the proof people are still fans of predictable stories. If this is the 2021 most mainstream TV series, something is definitely off. Except for a few moments and interesting parts when they participate in the game, everything else is filled with already seen stuff. Main character's morality is selectable/clashing in different situations, ridiculous plot twists and most of all, acting and dialogue of "rich people watching" is major cringe. I would avoid this, except if you really want to see why is this so popular.

One of the most overrated franchises
20 June 2021
The first movie is bad. It has so many plot holes that is unbelieveable. This one is even more absurd.

First, they travel everywhere barefoot, making slight noises, the same would be if they at least wore some socks, they could wear sneakers (for sneaking, right?), that one guy was wearing shoes (boots!) and the girl didn't - they made the same noise.

Next, characters are annoying. They do a lot of dumb stuff, many more than a typical horror movie that's rated as low as possible for being "dumb" but at least fun. Really stupid creature moments.

Lastly, nothing really happens. A lot of silence, not enough tension, this one is definitely not cinema-friendly.

They don't make them like this anymore
6 November 2020
For a slasher horror movie, it has everything - group of friends, iconic killer, interesting kills, creepy atmosphere and jump scares. Plus, there is a great cinematography, acting is good, and it doesn't look cheap. I think it's very underrated, people are expecting Oscar worthy movie for a slasher. It isn't and it isn't trying to be. Along with Wrong turn, Jeepers Creepers, it's a classic slasher horror movie of the early 2000s. I remember watching these and many other horrors in the early 2000s with friends, renting dvd movies all summer and watching together... it was so much fun. Unlike movies today (neither better nor worse), that recognizable vibe of the movies 15-20 years ago is lost, but not forgotten.

Hated it when I was a kid, now...
9 October 2020
...I think it's actually not that bad. Trashy fun, yes. Some memorable scenes, interesting ideas, but never really good enough. A lot of spoofs of it's own franchise.

Totally different than previous ones, in a bad way
9 October 2020
So, they decided to downgrade the series even more with cheap effects and trashy version of Alien. Didn't rate this 1 star only because it was slightly amusing. This franchise would've been better if it stayed in the 80s.

Not as bad as the title suggests
8 October 2020
Not really taking Manhattan, because the majority of the movie is set on a ship... but it's fun. It's just an average sequel, nothing really memorable except some ship action and the last 30 minutes of Manhattan. The last one from the 80s, where they all should be.

Probably the worst sequel
8 October 2020
They should have stopped at part VI. This one has the worst plot, acting and along with part IX the most boring. I love this franchise, but this one was over the top, in a bad way. Telekinesis, really? The movie has to be exceptionally good to pull that off. Also, the worst ending of all ten movies.

The last good sequel of Friday the 13th
7 October 2020
Maybe even the most entertaining of the sequels, part VI is the last one to be good, and should have been the last one in general. Like previous ones, there are some memorable scenes, and it is a lot gorier than the one before. Also, much more interesting kills. There are some funny scenes too, but not enough to be considered a comedy, which is a good thing in this case. Unlike previous few endings, this one was pretty good!

Lack of gory kills, but fun
6 October 2020
The killings were unimaginative and "kid-friendly" and I didn't like the time jump, it wasn't really necessary, takes away from the 80s vibe. But overall this sequel isn't so bad as it's rating. It is very entertaining, and has some memorable characters. Although the setting isn't a camp, the acting of many was very campy.

Not really "The Final Chapter"
5 October 2020
Another fun sequel, with some memorable characters and scenes. Although with more cliches and dumb scenes than movies before, a bit repetitive too, but still entertaining enough. I would rate it higher if the ending wasn't so weak.

The beginning of the iconic mask
4 October 2020
Another classic sequel to Friday the 13th, the one that started the killer with a hockey mask. Very memorable scenes and setting in a countryside. Still entertaining franchise with a few original scares, so it doesn't feel repetitive yet. So far, really liked all first three movies, ever since I was a child... If you liked first two, this one will be great, too.

A classic sequel
4 October 2020
After the original movie, comes it's sequel with iconic Jason as the killer for the first time. Some memorable scenes, a few repetitions but still entertaining, makes this movie a worthy second part of the franchise. If you expect less than the first one, you'll have fun watching.

The OG summer camp slasher
2 October 2020
The sub-genre of horror, often hit or miss, has divided horror movie lovers ever since it became mainstream in 1970s. Personally, slashers can be really good if they're done right, with a good story, scares, nice atmosphere, and memorable scenes. This one has it all, and that's why it is so popular even today.

Along with other influential slasher classics of the 1970s, like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween and Black Christmas, they created iconic horror villains many TV shows and films try to copy or spoof.

I've watched this one a couple of times, when I was a kid, teenager, young adult, all with different people, and it never gets old or boring. The atmosphere of summer camp in the late 1970s is perfect and nostalgic. Music to create tension is great. Acting is okay, with majority of actors being surprisingly good, if you consider time it was released.

Friday the 13th franchise is perfect fun for summer nights, or to watch through month of Halloween!

Style over substance
27 September 2020
Never really gets that interesting... It's like American Horror Story without the horror. I don't see the point of connecting it to the One flew over the cuckoo's nest, other than marketing purposes. If the story was more interesting and with added horror, it would have been a good season 10 of AHS that isn't going to be released in 2020.

27 Dresses (2008)

Neither funny nor romantic
30 August 2020
As a romantic comedy, it does have all the lame cliches that are so cringe worthy you will feel embarrassed even if you watch it alone. Why are weddings that important, in late 2000s rom-coms especially? And the need of all the dresses, really? To be a bridesmaid to so many people, is she like professional one or just stupid? Is it all necessary? Even by the title with ~27~ dresses you already know this one will be bad. Not to mention the plot summary... I just had to watch this nonsense expecting it to be like a parody worth at least 2 stars or something, but no.

Lacking common sense and intelligent writing, some people will find this movie entertaining, even good. So don't be discouraged!

Acting is bad, script is bad, jokes are bad... Avoid it, or turn it on if you want your partner to say that you should do something else.

Perfect nostalgic summer fun
17 August 2020
One of my favorite (if not favorite) animated shows ever. Watching for a few minutes of the first episode, I thought it was for young children only, but I was so wrong. This show is perfect for anyone, maybe even more appreciated later in life. It's funny, every single episode is pure entertainment... The only flaw is that is so short! Maybe better to end it so it never fades and keep the charm, but still it has a great potential to be much much longer. At least I hope for more animated TV shows with the same vibe - Oregon summers, nature and magic! Can't wait for other things to come out by the creator!

Suspiria (1977)
10/10
One of my favorite movies ever
17 August 2020
This is the movie, along with a few others, that I consider as my favorite. One of the greatest horror movies ever, so influential that many try (more or less successfully) to achieve this cinematographic greatness.

Plot is simple, yet effective. As a horror film, it creates the unease, tension and spooky atmosphere in colorful 1970s style. So when I think of this movie, the first thing that comes to my mind are the lights and saturated colors. Perfect for a rainy October night!

Along with great photography, many memorable scenes wouldn't be complete without the perfect soundtrack ("Suspiria, "Witch"...). Possibly the best music for a horror movie ever, the original theme is a horror movie's heaven... or hell.
