Ascendant (2021)
I'm glad I ignored the low reviews
The low reviews leaves me to guess that these people lack any real imagination whatsoever. I was quite shocked with the 3.5 star reviews, the trailer was what reeled me in initially. Trailers anymore include too much of the movie that when you go to see it, you already know everything. They did not make that mistake, when I saw the movie I was blown away. This film needs your attention though, so you can follow the story line properly. Strong female lead, better acting than the reviews suggest, and at times left me on the edge of my seat. Such a unique concept too, I literally can't wait for the sequel. You just have to watch for yourself and ignore the low reviews.
Wolf Pack (2023)
The low reviews are lying to you. SUCH a good new series.
I truly loved the show. I know it's targeted for teens but I'm 25 and ate this show up. Binged all 8 episodes just today. The first one I was like ehhhh but by episode two I was locked in. I truly do not understand why the ratings are so low on the show. Either these people didn't make it past the first episode or they just don't enjoy fantasy? Which I'm like why did you even contribute and write a review at all? Personally, I grew up on teen wolf and vampire diaries and have been waiting for them to make a new show like those for YEARS and they've finally done it. It had LGBTQ representation, body positivity, inclusivity. Gore, jump scares. THE actors they casted all matched to their age, which I love. I hate seeing thirty year olds playing high school kids. They did so well with this series. Not to mention the neat storyline that pieced together quite well in the end, although I'm anticipating for a season two because we were left with some unanswered questions. I don't know how people didn't like this show, honestly. I will be so sad if they don't do season two. I think I can speak for most of us that we are tired of certain platforms starting and canceling shows. I know lots goes into the production aspect, and with low ratings sometimes they can't bring a season two based on that. I'd be really sad if that's the case here. I will literally cancel my paramount subscription, if they don't return with a new season.
My main take away here is to watch the show. Maybe it's my inner child being healed by watching it or because something has to be pretty bad for me to hate it but I really think this show is worth the watch.
Teen Wolf: The Movie (2023)
Despite the low reviews I actually enjoyed the movie
Maybe it's because I'm not a huge critic or inherently negative BUT I loved the film. The main thing for me was, Stiles wouldn't be returning for the film, besides that I thought it was thrown together well especially with how long ago the show was aired? I loved teen wolf growing up and was so excited when they announced the movie. Everyone in the reviews is like "it was so rushed", "it wasn't where it was six years ago", "mediocre lines/bad acting" like bffr? I thought it was put together well, I mean its a freaking movie it's not going to have a slow burn effect like that if a tv series? You can only cram so much into one movie? They added a majority of the original characters, I mean even JACKSON was there. To be honest I'm really surprised of all the low ratings because everyone I grew up with that watched this enjoyed it and had no bad things to say about it. It felt like teen wolf to me when I watched, the overall vibes. I do think they didn't have the budget that they were expecting when they first started the project to create this movie and maybe that's why everyone is so bummed because of there high expectations however I really do think they did well with what they had. It really gave me a nostalgic feeling while watching and totally makes me want to re-watch the series. If you were a teen wolf fan, and your on the fence about seeing this movie because of all the bot reviews. I'd add it your watchlist. I've watched BAD movies or BAD remakes and this isn't one of them.
