Dear John.... (1986)
Criminally underrated classic!
Brilliant, funny and ridiculously underrated classic!
It's criminal how this masterpiece of British comedy often gets overlooked.
Such a shame there's so few episodes, when deserved so many more.
It's endured the test of time we'll, still as funny now as when it was released.
Mass (2021)
Powerful and thought provoking!
I really don't get the negative reviews about this film.
People complain when films are all action and lack character development, then at the same time complain films are boring and too long when it's about dialogue and character development! :-s
The premise is simple, but brilliant. 2 couples brought together by a go-between to talk in the neutral venue of a church room. You can feel the uneasiness and simmering tension between the 2 couples, which leads to the big reveal of why they have met....
This film is brilliantly written and acted. It's thought provoking, sad, tragic and powerful. Ignore the negativity and watch!
Moonfall (2022)
Spectacularly average
Think Armageddon crossed with The Abyss & Star Trek!
Typical disaster film really, lot's of special effects, world on the brink of oblivion and an unlikely group of saviours.
It's no award winner, not the best film you will ever see, but not the worse either!
Father Christmas (1991)
Blooming moody Santa!
Not easily offended, but considering the target audience is young children, the language throughout is nowhere near appropriate. Father Christmas is portrayed as a moody impatient arse who, hates his job! Unimpressed would be an understatement!
The Equalizer (2021)
Epically underwhelming!
The title and names are the same, but that's where the comparison s end Weak acting and writing, an absolute insult to the Equalizer name!
Don't bother wasting your time with this garbage!
The Stand In (2020)
Potential, but a bit naff really!
It had it's moments and could have been really good.... but ultimately it was a bit naff.
Stillwater (2021)
Had potential to brilliant.... but ultimately disappointed.
Matt Damon is excellent as the widowed dad determined to prove his estranged, ungrateful and imprisoned daughter innocent. Stillwater has it's moments with splashes of much needed humour, but ultimately the film felt like it failed to achieve it's potential due to a 2 hour runtime of character development and relationship building let down massively by botched and rushed ending!
Welcome to Sudden Death (2020)
Seriously terrible!
It's not often I write a review, but I felt this time it was necessary to help prevent others making the same mistake. It's hard to describe how seriously terrible this film is, it's not even worthy of one star. Staggering how garbage like this makes it into production. Fight sequences are beyond dumb, slow and robotic. Monumental waste of time and money!
Manifest (2018)
Feels like a cheap The 4400 copy!
Manifest has only just come onto Sky, so only seen 2 episodes so far. Immediately thought it's just a not so good rehash of The 4400. I kind of like it, but can see why people lost interest quite quickly!
