My verdict is that this drama follows the original very closely and is basically the original words from it, so it's great to watch. The visual presentation is excellent throughout and is a work that is very respectful of the original.
I am sceptical about the Netflix version because I can't imagine an Chinese novel starring white people, which doesn't follow the principles of a good film. I think Netflix's version is likely to be a commercial film that extracts the essence but misleads people's perceptions of the original. This is not because of my narrow view of film adaptations, but there is so much of the original work that is written with a Chinese mindset that I would very much not like to see Netflix make a Hollywood-style Three Bodies.
