Gotham 'Yikes'
15 March 2023
This review is going to be a bit of a mess - much like this show.

It's not good. The acting is lacklustre. The tone is all over the place. The story could be intriguing but gets bogged down in teeny-bopper melodrama, as my dad would say.

I don't want to include spoilers because if you want to watch this show, you should go in with no expectations. Seriously, don't have ANY expectations with this show.

I LOVE DC properties but this show just ain't it. The main character was created for the show; which, sometimes works, like Chloe in 'Smallville' but it seems bonkers to do it for your main protagonist, because the pilot does little to make you care about him.

The diversity in characters and actors is great, I just don't know if that will make up for terrible writing and bland delivery.

It shouldn't go past it's first season.

It's not bad, but...

This isn't the worst show I've watched, but it definitely has one of the worst lead characters.

Don't get me wrong, the actress who plays 'Gloria' isn't the issue, it's the character herself. She is OVERLY dramatic, sometimes funny but mostly, she's just downright nasty to the people she is closest with. Her overreactions to some of the antics made me dislike her, terribly.

The story itself, along with the rest of the cast, aren't terrible. I was entertained enough by them; however, what detracted from my overall enjoyment was the lead character, 'Gloria.' As I mentioned above, her character is quite insufferable.

I'm certain I'm not the target audience for this show, but if you're an adult watching with your tween / teen kids, be prepared to get frustrated and annoyed.

Well, that was unfortunate.

Pushed through the first three episodes (I think) and am afraid to say it, but: it's not good.

Catherine Zeta-Jones is probably the only redeeming quality of this program. I read one reviewer likening it to the crappy straight-to-home-release sequels Disney churned out in the '90s and that's pretty spot on.

I can't even that I would "hate-watch" this, it's just not good. Which, is a terrible shame because the movies were incredibly entertaining.

I am unable to comment on the rest of the series but judging on the first couple of episodes, I was hoping for more of a tie-in with the original two films.

I'd give it a pass.
