The movie is a slow burner but is such a good film because of that. You have be be patient for the film to get good just like the hunter has to be patient to find the Tasmanian tiger. The movie takes some risks that really pay off. The main one being to kill most of the family that the hunter is staying with. Another shocking turn is that after you think that Dafoe had a change of heart and will spar the tiger he just shoots it. He shoots it so no-one else will try to hunt it down. The scenery of Tasmania is beautiful. And the supporting cast is great with Sam Neil, Dan Wyllie, Frances O'Connor bring their characters to life.
