King of Killers (2023)
6.2 Rating Seriously?!
Well, after the cast, family and friends voted this awful movie high I had the disgrace of watching 35 minutes of it.
Frank Grillo managed to act using two facial expressions i the entire 35 minutes i watched, Zoe Worm managed to play a character staring at the floor all the time...but...The plot: seems like this guy character was responsible of inviting his wife to the place where he was going to kill half a dozen bad guys...with a fake moustache...yes...his wife saw him in the place where he invited her and followed him to the basement where he was about to kill the bad guys then while killing them his wife stands behind the door and receive 5 bullets on the chest (thru the door)...easy enough right?
Well.no...the main character now is looking for the responsible of her death...basically himself...he invited her to meet him in the same place where he was killing the bad guys and the bullets she received where aimed to him.
Knowing this, the rest of the movie is non-sense because the script makes no sense, the characters are laughable. His wife character is so annoying that when se was killed i thought "well, at least a good twist in the movie"...but no. The acting is awful, SOME of the fight choreographies are decent...just decent...you are warned...
Hellraiser (2022)
Bittersweet feeling
The movie itself looks like a HD PS4 game...The effects are amazing, the Cenobites are beautifully crafted, much more flesh and white/grey colours instead the predominant black in the Clive Barker's ones.
I really like this new version of the old Cenobites, why no Butterball?
The script is meh...some plot twists at the end but nothing memorable, I think the movie lacks substance and is relying most of the time in the visual aspect of it.
There's not much explanations or background story about the Cenobites and the cast is quite limited, only 10 actors in the entire film.
When you watch this movie you realise how amazing Clive Barker movies were with all the technology limitations he had, it's impossible to beat his movies, no technology no budget no CGI or High Definition Fxs will ever beat Clive Barker's Hellraiser and even when I love the new Pinhead (I love the way it looks and the male/female voice) but...Doug Bradley performance is unbeatable.
If you approach this movie as a side interpretation of Clive's Hellraiser or a different timeline/saga based in another writers point of view, you'll enjoy it...if you are expecting to watch a masterpiece or to compare this one with the original ones, you will feel disappointed.
I would like to see more movies coming on this new saga, I would like to see how this new saga develops thru time and if the new movies coming (If any) will start to explore different aspects of the Cenobite's world that are more developed in the books and not so much in the movies.
