Superman & Lois: Forever and Always (2023)
One of the best of the season
Incredible character study. Good background on Bruno and Peia but the best part of the episode was the Jonathan stuff, of which I wish there was far more of. His desperation to find anything to help his mother was very relatable and it actually would have been a better episode if we focused on that as the main story.
The new actor, Michael Bishop, is pretty incredible and it was amazing to finally have Clark acknowledge that Jonathan is also half Kryptonian and had a father son moment with him, something which has been denied to Jon for years. I hope this leads to him finally getting his powers because that would be a great story that I've been waiting for for three seasons now!
The rest of the episode was a little meh with Chrissy and Sarah. And they're really trying to push John Henry and Lana together but I'm not feeling any chemistry there. And sadly the twists this season have been mediocre and predictable with the Peia reveal last episode which was only slightly less obvious than the Matteo reveal this episode.
Superman & Lois: Of Sound Mind (2023)
Just ok
I went back and forth on 6 or 7. Every episode this season is a variation of Lois is sick and Clark wants her to take it more seriously. They argue a little and cry and then hug at the end. Or Lois is sick and Lois wants Clark to take things more seriously. They argue a little and cry and then hug at the end...are they going to do anything else?
The focus on overpowered whiny Jordan is also never good. They're actually turning him into a Mary Sue character and I hate using that term but he just is. He's always winning and getting good things and praise from his parents constantly! He's so annoying and the actor isn't any better. It was so sad when Jonathan, who is a way better character, talked about his family ignoring him and he came home excited to show off his achievement only to be ignored again because all they do is focus on Jordan. I don't get it, it's maddening!
The rest was whatever. The Cushings are there, they stuck Jon with them to make them better, Mannheim is still confusing and there was a really obvious twist. Has the show lost steam?
