Your Face (2023)
Really fun short psychological horror moment
I really enjoyed watching this short film. It's only 4 minutes long so it's a super easy slice of horror to take in.
I think I most like how grounded and creepy the concept is. It's a good horror moment because the protagonist (as well as the viewer) don't really have a chance to internalize the scary situation that is happening to them, and as a result it evokes an excellent feeling of hopelessness and confusion while in a stressful situation.
During the majority of the film you can tell that they feel like they aren't even sure if the events around them are real or some sort of paranoid psychological event that they're experiencing for the first time. As a viewer you are trying to figure that out as well, as the film purposely leaves a lot of things to the imagination and uses subtle lighting/special effects to make things look just a little bit "wrong"
I would highly recommend giving it a watch, you can tell it was done by a good team.
Do Revenge (2022)
This movie is a genre bender... Or perhaps a genre flattener.
This movie wanted so badly to be a mix of Clueless, Mean Girls, and Cruel Intentions. It comes close to being a good mix of that, but all of the characters lack the charm and quirkiness that made those movies work. It seems they spent a lot of time on the costumes and aesthetics much to the detriment of everything else.
The story (especially the last third) is completely mediocre and try-hard. Because of a lack of focus, none of the aspects of the classics that they try to mimic fits quite right. The romances are generally forced and rushed.
They try so hard to be woke but end up glamorizing some very problematic things. (Apparently it's ok/funny to drug people without their consent???)
The only reason to give this movie a watch would be for Sophie Turner's (sadly very few) scenes. Her character actually worked and her scenes were genuinely hilarious/original.
