Inside Out 2 (2024)
"My job is to protect her from the scary stuff she can't see."
When I first heard that Pixar was making a sequel film, I was very excited as I simply adored the last one. I saw the trailer and thought that it looked good for a current movie. I went to see it with high expectations, and I came out sobbing from how personal it felt to me.
For some context about me, I had terrible anxiety for years until I finally healed from it and watching the film from that perspective made it very personal. I found myself teary at a few of the lines that Anxiety said just because I had said them to myself in the past. The film portrayed accurate depictions of teenage life, from struggling to fit in, those feelings associated with friends going away, thinking less of yourself etc... One scene I found especially hard to cope with and that got me SOBBING just because it gave me time to reflect on how I used to be.
Personal feelings aside, this film was really amazing. The animation was incredible, and the plot was surprisingly good. I loved the new emotions and its just as good as the first one (almost better)
Damsel (2024)
It was good!
This movie isn't too bad, although there were moments where it was quite overbearing. I will say that for a 2024 fantasy movie it was pretty good, it had the iconic slaying the dragon plot with more of a twist. I'm not usually one to deal with hyperfeminist films but I thought it wasn't too bad. I do like how Elodie didn't slay the dragon because it shows how woman have natural tendencies to be more sympathetic.
The costuming was good, I did like how she went from wearing more freeing clothes before getting betrothed to wearing more restrictive clothes after that. The world creating was really good and I like how they had her want to marry him for more than just a political alliance.
I did watch the movie when it first came out so I might not have all my facts correct about some of the details, but overall it was a good production for 2024 and it was good for a modern fantasy film!
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
It's incredible!!
I love the show and the way it brings awareness to diferant ways of processing (e.g. Sheldon OCD and ASD) and I really like seeing the interactions between the group and how they grow their group. The humor is so funny and as someone who understands the more interlecual jokes I liked that element.
I really do like the growth we see in the show where Howard went from a creepy person to the first to make a commitment and Sheldon goes from a self-centered person to a kinder person with a wife and a solid friend group who still in many ways tolerate him. With that being said I really do appreciate the representation and the growth we see and I really like the humor in the show.
